I find that some analgesic drugs (over the counter work) In some cases they don't take all the pain away but they help the body muscles relax!!!

Very amusing, while providing good information. Thanks

My husband farts so much, I've tuned it out now. He keeps hoping I will fart openly (and I never do . . I hold it in until I get to a bathroom or outside for a walk). Love the new cartoon in your intro. It's been awhile since I visited you. Thanks for the laughs (and the education) . . important stuff.

Well done for highlighting such a common problem. As a gastro doctor I see a lot of people with these problems and its important to have this assessed.
  • Afroninja Jan 13, 2012 @ 2:32 am | delete
I seems to have a similar problems. You see, every early morning when I woke up, eat, then go to school, around 8am, my stomach feels so bad and most of the time I would go to the toilet to defecate. After defecate, the pain is not 100% gone. Its still there. After a while, I'll fart and burp(usually fart, constant fart). So is there any way to prevent this. Does that mean I have weak stomach?

Thank You! 6 hours ago I was doubled over in pain due to trapped wind and came across your blog. I tried methods 1,3,5,6, & 7 and was able to pass some and thus the agony sub-sided. So after an hour and a half of it, I ate a little fruit and I've now slept fro 2+ hours.
I've often used rubbing around your stomach in a clockwise direction, and you can do this while standing and doing aclockwise circle with your hips. This is good but today I was in too much pain. ALSO just sitting on the toilet helps to relax your muscles and thus pass wind.

Anyways, thank you so much you saved me today!

hi, i've tried all of the above it helps only in very small doses for me, peppermint tea is good and an almost immediate relief is drinking boiling water no sugar or anything it relieves in a few minutes and helps pass wind, but i'm still seeking a permanent cure as hate feeling like this, sometimes i even vomit and then after several months have a full day of diarrheoa which kills me with pain, not nice but if you have these problems pls do try what i've suggested it does help.

Good advice for a common problem.

I love this lens Carrie! As someone who used to be able to "parp for England" - I discovered the main cause of my problem was eating bread or wheat products. The worst bread is the stuff that has a long shelf life and I can only assume that it is not just the wheat but the preservatives as well.

So thank you for tackling such an awkward topic with such a brilliant mix of great humour and serious help and tips.

Ha! Absolutely brilliant lens, I wish all lenses were as funny as this. I've written a lens on bloating and excess wind too but it was my first and I wish I'd made it more fun now. You've given me some great ideas for my next one :)

    Thanks again.

I bet this lens gets a lot of Google traffic! Those Gas-X tablets seem to get rid of gas pains fairly well too. Nice work.

What a fun presentation of a difficult problem--luckily I rarely struggle in this area but when I do there is nothing I wouldn't try for relief. I will definitely keep your lens in mind and share your solutions with others who pass my way. You Brits have a wonderful manner of expression and your accent adds a bit of charm to the subject.

Thanks for the laugh. The video with the guy at the gym was hilarious. Farting is natural, but it is polite to at least say excuse me in public, but then that would be admitting it was you huh. Great lens again!!

Papaya enzyme tablets work pretty well. For me, staying away from certain foods can help a lot.
