How to Stop a Dog from Biting. I hear this all the time: "We've been to obedience training and my dog still bites! How do I learn how to stop a dog from biting?"

First of all, obedience training is great for you and your dog, but it will never stop behavior problems like dog biting or puppy biting. If you take a dog that bites to obedience classes, you will then have a dog that Heels, Comes, Lies Down--and bites...

A common misconception is the fallacy that once a dog has bitten someone or drawn blood, he is doomed to continue biting and can never be trusted again. This is nonsense! But you'd be amazed at the number of people who believe it--even many so-called "professionals" in the dog field.

There are many causes of dog aggression which result in your needing to learn how to stop a dog from biting and stop puppy biting.

Territorial aggression / food aggression in dogs can cause dogs to bite. Fear or self-defense can also cause dogs or puppies to bite. For example, if a family member corners a puppy to grab him to punish him for soiling or chewing, the pup learns to fear being grabbed and begins defending himself. He learns that biting the grabbing hand makes it go away.

Food Aggression - How to Stop a Dog from Biting

Dogs are territorial by nature. For thousands of years, their survival depended upon defending their territory.

They will also fight to defend themselves or their pack if they perceive a threat. Being predators, they have a long history of hunting and killing prey. And many of these predatory reflexes are in our domestic breeds today. Unless handled properly, many dogs will develop a protective attitude toward their food--or food aggression, threatening anyone who approaches it or them while they're eating.

Again, such behaviors as food aggression are natural to the species. No one should have a dog without knowing that. Food aggression can also be effectively handled with proper training and guidance from the family. These reasons are seldom behind an aggression problem and should be familiar to and properly handled by anyone choosing to have a dog.

my cousins dog liikes to bite all the time whenever she laying down on your bed and she is llaying you are suppose to be and u try to move her she will bite and also when another dogs comes around her she will growl

BITS ALL THE TIME CANT EVEN PET HIM AND THEN IF YOU GET ON TO HIM HE BARKS IN REBELION, AND OF COURSE WE HAVE WHIPPED HIM SCOLDED HIM, GAVE HIM TIME OUTS AND PRAISED HIM FOR NOT BITTING BUT BEFORE YOU CAN GET THE WORDS OUT OF YOUR MOUTH HE BITTING YOUR OTHER HAND

You know, many people have this problem with their dogs. Some things you can do to help that- and it works- is to yelp loudly or say ouch in a very high pitched voice. This is what litters of pups do to tell te other they are biting too hard. You can walk away and leave her for a while if she continues after this. Another thing you can d is just make the bed first- before you allow her to een come into your room. The last thing you can do is make her sit and stay on the floor next to your bed, and tell her when she can jump up. Do not push away or hit the puppy because she will not love you or hink it is a mean game. That can make her become even more aggresive. I hope this helps!
