Help! My Dog Chews Everything!!

Don't fret, chewing is a natural instinct for dogs. Humans bite their nails, and dogs chew on stuff. But what happens when your dog chews on YOUR stuff. Now you've got a problem.

Don't worry though, because this can be solved! I have three perfectly behaving dogs that were once the most stressful part of my life. I was afraid to see what they had chewed up each day when I come home from work!

Luckily that's the past, because I found a program that help my hand, and taught me how to stop a dog from chewing.

Is My Dog Incurable?

Stop Your Dog From Chewing

No, your dog is not incurable, but you will need some help. Although some dogs grow out of his/her chewing phase, if you don't get your dog help quickly, they could make it a habit that will be very hard to change.

So how can you stop your dog from chewing?
Whatever you do, DON'T higher a personal trainer or sign your dog up for classes. This can work, but it will cost tons of money, and they don't teach YOU how to control your dog's behavior. If you can't control your dog, then your hopeless.

Luckily for you, there are cheaper ways for you to learn how to train your dog for yourself. This is actually how I trained my 3 beautiful dogs to behave themselves.

It's this nice little ebook titled Kingdom of Pets (nice name, eh?), and it consists of all your training material for pretty much any problem your dog may have!

The Importance Of Dog Chewing Toys

Does your dog have enough toys? This may be a big reason that your dog chews on YOUR stuff. Maybe he just doesn't like his toys or something.

Just make sure that your dog has at least five toys that are available for him to chew at any time. If you catch your dog chewing anything except for those five toys, scold your dog, and replace the bad object with one of his toys.

What I do with my dogs, is keep a basket in the corner of the living room containing all of their toys. Anytime they feel the need to chew, I watch them go over to their basket and pull out a toy (now I need to teach them how to put the toys back :/).

So what are some good toys?

In my dogs basket, I have a variety of toys. Some are soft and fluffy, while some are hard and rough. I haven't noticed any preference between my dogs though because they pretty much play with both types all the time.

Also keep items like tennis balls so you can play fetch with your dog.

You can get more tips on how to correctly train your dog to not chew from Kingdom of Pets. They have tons of video, audio, and text lessons for you.

The Most Common Mistake

I remember this being the hardest part when first training my dogs. I would come home and find everything messed up, and the first thing I would want to do is yell at them. I'm sure you have felt this anger as well.

But yelling solves nothing if you don't catch them in the act. Your dog doesn't see chewing as something bad, or else they wouldn't do it, so if you yell at them an after after the incident occurs, he will have no clue why you are yelling at him!

What you should do instead, is keep your cool, and just clean the mess up and put it behind you.

If you catch him in the act, you should scold him, and replace the your belongings with one of his toys.
