How to Stop Dog Aggression - How to Stop a Dog from Biting

Stop Dog Aggression - Stop a Dog from Biting.  You give your dog so much loving attention and yet your dog has fear aggression.  He lunges at anything that moves while you're out walking with him.  How can this be?  Why do you have to learn how to stop dog aggression and how to stop a dog from biting?

Well, you may be surprised to learn that even when a dog is treated gently--but incorrectly--he can have fear aggression and dog biting problems so that you may have to learn how to stop dog aggression.

For example, when you greet your dog, your posture has a profound influence on your dog's behavior.  Here's how a person greets a dog to cause or reinforce fear aggression:  look him straight in the eye with your shoulders squared to him, lean over him, reach down from above, and pet him on the back of his neck.

One of my clients was doing that with her Jack Russell who shook so much that people thought she must be beating him!  Here's how she changed her greeting:  She squatted down, didn't stare at his eyes right awy, reached from the floor up to him and petted him on his chest and throat, not the back of his neck.  Her dog's submissive fear behaviors disappeared!

There are several motives for aggression in dogs.  When you are learning how to stop dog aggression and how to stop a dog from biting, you have to be careful to avoid simply switching motives.  For example, if you treat a dog's dominance aggression very harshly, he may then develop fear aggression problems!

Learn more about my methods on how to stop dog aggression and learn to stop a dog from biting without harsh methods like jerking and without gimmicks like squirting and clicking.

Here are a couple of my quotes that will tell you more about my philosophy of eliminating dog behavior problems like dog aggression and biting dogs:

"In dog training, 'jerk' is a noun and not a verb."

"Obedience training is great--but it will NOT solve behavior problems.  If you obedience-train a dog that bites, you then have a dog that Sits, Stays, Heels--and bites."

I have a very sweet dog that wants to nip/bite at you for no reason sometimes. I have got over the fact to not bother him with his bones or food, but he can get nastly when i just want to move him over so i can lay ont he couch. Does anyone have any suggestions. I really dont want to get rid of him.

Hello all!

If your dog is aggressive toward anything that moves when you're walking, it may surprise you to learn that you may be contributing to his aggression.

My passion for over 3 decades of my professional life has been to eliminate dog behavior problems -- so that fewer dogs are turned into shelters and so the dogs are more "liveable" with their families.

Behavioral therapy techniques work to eliminate dog behavior problems and they are often fast, easy, and fun!  That's because you are communicating with your dog in a way he can understand.

Harsh methods like jerking and gimmicks like squirting and clicking are not necessary.  Here is one of the "Fetkoisms" I am known for:  "In dog training, 'jerk' is a noun and not a verb!"  Learn more about my methods here:
