My goal here is to give those who may be spending Valentine's Day alone some options. And also bring a few smiles to your face. It is in no way to minimize your situation, or to make light of it. Enjoying the 14th of February is what it's all about!

    Please, please, please don't send flowers to a single friend just to make them feel better. It will just make them wonder who sent the gift, and agonise about it. For a few short days, they will be so excited, or apprehensive.

    Then they'll find ou the truth sooner or later, and feel ten times more alone and unloved; not only did someone feel the need to pretend to them that they were wanted, but they've just been reminded of their lonliness.

    Of course, if you think that the presence of flowers on their doorstep will alert single friend's potential suitors, or scare off people who are likely to joke about their relationship status, then by all means do it!

    valentines day sucks... my ex is spending it with her boyfriend... i wish she would just realize wat we had and that we should be spending it together :(

    Been here at this lens before, but still have to make a point. All the hype-crap stuff you see on tv is NOT real life.........it's meant strictly and only for you to BUY something. Great Lens Chloe!

    A very good idea to offer this resource. You could also mention that lots of people in relationships - even happy relationships - pretty much say no to Valentine's Day as well.

    I have been single for 21 years now. From my own relationships and being the 'one to cry to' of friends relationships, I TOTALLY agree with that #1 reason above in black! If you always have a pity party on VDay, think of someone else for a change; give gifts to others who're alone, start a new trend
