Great Sites to Check Out

Donors Choose- Schools Nationwide
Choose where and what your monetary contribution goes towards! This brilliant nonprofit allows teachers to select what items are most needed in their classrooms, as well as project ideas they would like to initiate. There are many schools across the country to choose from, including schools destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
Dress for Success (Women)
Donate your used or new women's professional clothes (including suits) to benefit those less fortunate. The clothes you donate will be given to economically-disadvantaged women for job interviews. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated in order to keep the program running and provide career training.
Career Gear (Men)
This nonprofit works similarly to Dress for Success, except for men. Donate your used or new professional clothes (including suits) so that less-fortunate men can have appropriate attire for their job interviews.
ASPCA (Donate Used Bedding, Towels, Sheets)
Donate your used sheets, towels, pillows, and bedding to your local ASPCA to provide a warm bed for the animals in your local shelter.

The New York ASPCA is located at 92 between York and 1st Ave.
Call to Protect (Used Cell Phones)
This campaign collects wireless phones to benefit survivors of domestic violence.

Proceeds from the sale of phones help fund agencies that fight domestic violence and are also used to support the educational efforts of the Wireless Foundation. Other phones are refurbished and become lifelines for domestic violence survivors when faced with an emergency situation.
Cure Recycling (Used Cell Phones, Ink Jet & Toner Cartridges)
Proceeds from recycled cell phones, ink jet cartridges, & toner cartridges are donated to CURE Childhood Cancer, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through research, education, and support of patients and their families.
Kids in Distressed Situations (Children)
Donate new and overstock children's clothes, toys, shoes, beds, books, art supplies, and other children's products.

Donations are distributed to nonprofit agencies in poverty-stricken areas, such as West Virginia, New Mexico, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the District of Columbia.

Urgent Needs

Gulf Coast School Needs Your Help!

Jefferson Middle School in Columbia, Mississippi has taken in many hurricane Katrina evacuees. Some children are doing well, but others are still traumatized. Their parents are stressed or depressed. Some of them travel long hours to their jobs so they can provide food for their families, and their children hardly see them.

They really need your support! Please send these items:

1. A package of ruled, loose-leaf binder paper- drop it into a manila envelope and mail it to the school.

2. Send new or used belts - black, navy, dark brown, sizes 32 and up. The kids really need belts.

3. Write a note of moral support for the faculty to Assistant Principal Angela Burkett - abburkett@columbiaschools.org.

Send to Assistant Principal Angela Burkett, Jefferson Middle School , 611 Owens Street, Columbia, Mississippi 39429.

Make a Child Smile

Send cards and gifts to very sick children

www.MakeAChildSmile.org is a great website that features very sick children each month. Reading about these children quickly puts petty annoyances and problems into perspective! These kids are nothing short of amazing, and they need all of our love and support!

The "featured kids" page provides their interests and medical situation, so that you can personalize cards and gifts for them. This month, there are 3 more adorable kids to choose from: Joshua, Savanna, and John Nicholas.
