It was Mr. Jose Gener who founded one of the most prestigous Cuban cigar brand of all time. Yes Hoyo De Monterrey has been around since the 1960s and the brand is preffrred buy some of the most elite in our society.
The "Le Hoyo" series was added to the commercial cigar market in the mid-seventies. The name translates roughly as "the valley of Monterrey", which is a particularly fertile area of land in the "Vuelta Abajo" area of South west Cuba.
Mr. Jose Gener was originally a leaf grower himself so he knows exactly what kind fo tobacco and all the other properties that are required to grow that perfect leaf. Today the Hoyo De Monterrey cigars come from the "Vuelta Abajo" region or one of the most fertile regions in Cuban to grow the best Cuban tobacco. This is the same region where Mr. Jose learned how to plant his first tobacco leaf.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Piramides LE 2003 is definitely my favorite Hoyo de Monterrey Model. It maginificently represents everthing a true Hoyo should be. The Hoyo de Monterrey Piramides LE 2003 carries a strong punch and since it comes in one fo my favorite sizes (The piramides) - this works out to be a great cigar for someone with a decent 'experienced' like mine.
