The HP 5550dtn is no small printer. It is certainly not designed to sit on a counter or desk, but will require floor space. The only weak link in this printer may be its skill at paper handling. The duty cycle rates at 120,000 sheets per month. That is relatively low for printers designed for use by workgroups today. With this size printer a larger duty cycle would be appreciated. For optimal results, use toner from HP with this machine.

The HP Color LaserJet 5550dtn printer does not come with a sorter, stacker or finisher. In addition, one is not offered as an option by HP. According to HP, the 5550dtn is designed to accept a possible future option for paper handling. There also seems to be the option of this handler being manufactured by third parties.

The 5550dtn printer is the high end of HP's 5550 family of printers. It features two-sided printing with an automated duplex capacity. It also has an additional 500 sheet input tray that brings the sheet capacity to 1,100 pages. The RAM has also been increased by 128 MB to 228 MB of memory and a printer stand is included. Some of these features cannot be added as options on the lower end models.
