If your blank screen displays properly after standby, verify that you set your power management controls in the best manner.http://comprehensive-support.blogspot.in/2012/05/how-to-fix-hp-laptop-black-screen.html]http://comprehensive-support.blogspot.in/2012/05/how-to-fix-hp-laptop-black-screen.html

Good explanation of the fix. I have not transferred into the age of laptops yet because I like building and if needed, fixing my towers. Easy to access. This lens though may change my mind to try a laptop for some uses though.

Just looked at some of these diy video fixes on youtube, I wouln't put a motherboard in my oven at home, cause flame retardants which are volatile fumes are carcinogenic as far as I know. Motherboards are impregnated with these to stop laptops burting into flames or catching fire due to electrical faults ):

Best place I have used to get my hp dv2000 fixed after a graphics chip failure was at www.first4laptops.com
didn't cost much, was well worth it since I had all my work on it, buying a new one would have meant two weeks of putting the software right.

Very informative lens! Black screen can be really annoying, especially if you have an online job, where laptop is most essential tool.
