The Santa Maria Valley is Host To Near Perfect Weather
The River bed in Northern Santa Barbara County used to flow, year round, before the creation of Twitchell Dam which was created as a water supply for the city Santa Barbara. This area is a host for cool climate with one of the longer growing seasons on the coast of California.
Two of the vineyards are on the upper bench of the Santa Maria Valley and are higher elevation which quickens there ripening. The highest is Bien Nacido who has a renounced reputation brought to them in the late 80's and early 90's because of a decision to inner plant the former 12 foot rows.
Julia's Named after Kendal Jackson's daughter has very restricted sales in a private club called "The Artisan Club". Only the best and proven Winemakers may attempt to craft Wine from these Old Vines.
Cottonwood Canyon poses a quite old fellow named Norm who is the sole propriater of the estate is located on Dominion Road. These vines are quite young so they bring a youthful pieces, in the forms of Dijon Clones 777 and 667.

For me long lushes aromatics that evolve continuously after opening. It's a pleasure when the is ready to please you an instant after opening. I like to drink Pinot when all wine making elements are intact. Balanced for ten to fifteen seconds until I can wait no longer than the alcohol warms my insides and flows to the mouth. Those are Pinot's that inspire me!!
What is all these clone things???
Some times in Chardonnay and Always in Pinot Noir. Scientists have broken the dna codes for many wine regions in the world. When you here names like 114, 115, 2A, 667, 777.This means that scientist in Dijon, in this example, created a way to make different characteristics in Pinot Noir. Some will bring firm rounded flavors, some will have a sort of saturation like an old memory from a story of a forgotten friend. Some will take you by surprise and wisk you away to a hillside of an orange orchard or dip you into a dark raspberry forest.
Pinot Noir will start as some name whether dijon clone or Martini clones or Beane, what ever they might be.
Know this "You can not recreate the past".
Wine is never the same always evolving always changing.

When are you drinking your pinots?? Too early not rounded balanced fruit, but hard up front with alcohal and acidic to make your brain swell.
Experienced Pinot drinkers know their preference. Mine is between 3-5 years to sometimes if they are as tight as a drum in the beginning and they shine later to even 12 years.
