Hugh Jackman Workout and Diet Philosophy
I really believe Hugh Jackman has changed the way an action star is supposed to look in a movie. With his hit X-Men movies, he set the standard for what a star should look like. He is easily one of the most jacked stars in hollywood.
Hugh Jackman's Workout and Diet have proven to be effective because of the physique he presents throughout all his films. Additionally, it shows that he was dedicated, consistent, and focused within his goals. Those are characteristics anyone and everyone will have to present to achieve a body like Hugh Jackman's.
What you'll find below is a culmination of all the research I did on the Hugh Jackman workout and diet, I hope you enjoy it and enjoy Real Steel, which I of course recommend you see.

Hugh Jackman Work Out
Jackman has been in good shape since he started doing movies. The man shows consistence in his fitness and that is a key reason he has achieved such an appreciable body.
In Hugh Jackman's workout, the focus is gaining muscle and strength and fat loss. Gaining mass is one phase and strength is one phase. Each phase lasts 6 weeks and is rotated over 5 months. During the last week of each phase, putting on mass or strength, he focuses on fat loss.
During the muscle phase, Hugh's trainer had him focus on medium reps and really adding weight. He did not do max weight during this phase at all, but instead ensured he could always do a decent amount of reps for each weight before moving onto the next level of weights.
During the strength phase, Hugh focused on max weights and minim reps for each respective exercise. He really focused in on adding weight while keeping proper form and being safe.
Intensity was high during each phase.
During the last week of each phase, Jackman focused in on interval training. Interval training is simply alternating periods of intense work and rest. Example:
50 Yard Sprint
60-90 seconds rest
Repeat 6-8 times
He would complete intervals with running and bodyweight exercises. Some bodyweight exercises are:
push-ups
handstand push-ups
clap push-ups
Pull-up
Inverse Row
Squat Jump
Burpee
Lunge
Mountain Climber
Various Abdominal movements
The fat loss period was important to make sure the muscle he worked so hard for during each phase was visible and had little fat covering it.
Jackman's trainer really focused in on form to ensure no injuries occurred. Avoiding injuries is key as an injury can easily take someone out for 4-6 weeks or longer, but if safety is emphasized, workouts can be maintained consistently.
Key message: Focus on form by researching the proper form of each and every exercise.

Hugh Jackman Diet
Hugh Jackman's Diet was the first example of a celebrity using carb manipulation that I heard of.
Carb manipulation is simply altering levels of carbohydrate throughout the day to maximize fat loss and energy levels.
Jackman made sure he had enough carbohydrate to energize him throughout his workouts and day.
This is why he allowed consumption of carbohydrate (no sugars, just starches) before 2pm, and then focused on consuming protein and fats throughout the rest of the day.
This is an easy way to maximize fat loss without restricting any nutrient, by allowing protein and carbs in the first part of the day (carbs burned through activity and body functions), and focusing on protein and fat the second half of the day, Jackman received a wide variety of nutrients.
Hugh Jackman always winds up looking great for his roles, and judging by the movie footage in the trailer, the same occurred in this movie. Just remember that focusing on form in workouts and a balanced amount of nutrients through food is key to achieving a hollywood body.
