HughesNet Goes the Extra Mile to Provide Rural America With High Speed Internet Service
Broadband Internet Options for Rural America
Why is rural America still waiting for broadband access?
There are two categories of broadband access: wired and wireless. Wired broadband includes DSL and Cable internet. Wireless includes WiMax, cellular and satellite Internet service. Below are brief descriptions of the various options.
Wired Internet Options
DSL Internet:
Digital Subscriber Line or DSL is offered by most landline phone companies. DSL has a major limitation that prevents it in rural areas: the end user must be within a short distance of the Central Office to get service. Unfortunately, most rural areas are too far out for DSL.Cable Internet:
The name of this option clearly points out the problems for rural areas and cable. Simply, Cable Internet requires cable to be placed in the ground. This is far too costly in rural America.Wireless Internet Options
Cellular Internet:
Cellular Internet service has a couple of major drawbacks. These being the fact that the networks are not built out enough to service most rural areas and the networks themselves lack the bandwidth to support always-on Heavy Internet use.WiMax Internet:
WiMax is similar to the WiFi service that you may be familiar with at coffee houses and the like. The difference is that WiMax can provide service over many square miles. The problem with WiMax is that the networks are several years from being completed and the signal has a very difficult time penetrating homes.Satellite Internet:
Satellite Internet has been rural America's best choice for television and Internet options for several years. Unlike the other technologies mentioned on this page, Satellite Internet service is inexpensive to deploy to rural locations and it is available now.Satellite broadband is an excellent choice for rural America and HughesNet is America's #1 choice for broadband internet service via satellite. HughesNet goes the extra mile for rural America.

- Hello Ron and thanks for your question.
HughesNet and Wild Blue have 2 major differences: reliability and coverage area. HughesNet is very reliable and the cover almost anywhere nationwide. WildBlue has issues with losing signal for extended periods and they do not cover the entire USA. Please go to the following site www.acmesat.com.
