Hugh Michael Jackson was born in Sydney, Australia on 12 October 1968. He is an Australian actor who is involved in film, musical theatre, and television.

A singer, dancer and actor in stage musicals, Hugh has won international recognition for his roles in major films, his forte being action/superhero, period and romance characters. Successes include the X-Men series, Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing, The Prestige, The Fountain and Australia.

Hugh Jackman's Career Chronology

1968 - Hugh Jackman was born in Sydney on October the 12th. He was the youngest of 5 children and the second to born in Australia.

1985 - Hugh starred in his first school production, for Knox Boy Grammar School. The production was "My Fair Lady".

1986 - Jackman spent a gap year working at Uppingham School in England.

1991 - Hugh graduated from the University of Technology in Sydney, with a BA in Communications.

1994 - Jackman graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts of Edith Cowan University in Perth.

1996 - Jackman married Deborra-Lee Furness in April. They met on the set of his first TV acting job in "Correlli", an Australian television series.

1998 - Hugh played Gaston in the stage play "Beauty and th Beast". He also played Joe Gills in "Sunset Boulevard."
Hugh also hosted Carols in the Domain.
Hugh starred in the stage show for "Oklaholma! in London's West End.

2000 - This year Hugh Jackman was placed in the role of Brian Singers' "X-Men" character, Wolverine. Hugh is nearly a foot taller that the comic book version of Wolverine.

2001 - Jackman played Leopold in "Kate and Leopold", with his opposite as Meg Ryan. Jackman is an English Aristocrat who is accidently time-travelled to 21st Manhattan.

2004 - Jackman won the Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, for his 2002-2004 Broadway portrayal of Australian songwriter and performer Peter Allen, in the hit musical, "The Boy from Oz".
Jackman also played a Role in Van Helsing and was, of course lead actor, Gabriel Van Helsing. His role was a Vampire hunter. The leading Actress was Kate Beckinshile.

2005 - Jackman filmed the parts of three different characters in Darren Aronofsky's science-fiction film, "The Fountain". One of his roles was, Tommy Creo, a neuroscientist. Another one of his roles is Captain Tomas Creo, a Spanish Conquistador. Jackman's third character is the future astronaut, Tom, travelling to a golden nebula in an eco-spacecraft.

2006 - Jackman performed another stage show of "The Boy from Oz" in Australia.
Jackman also starred in"The Prestige", directed by Christopher Nolan. As Robert Angier, Jackman was a magician who built up a rivalry with contemporary Alfred Borden in attempt to better each other in the art of deception. Jackman stated that his main reason for doing The Prestige was to work with the musician Bowie, who played scientist Nikola Tesla.

2008 - Jackman did his most Australian role, and this role was a cattle drover in the movie, "Australia". Jackman's character's name is 'Drover', and he helps an English Nobelwoman, Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman),to save her husband's cattle station.

2009 - Jackman has filmed his most recent film, "X-Men Origins - Wolverine" of course starring in this film as Wolverine.
