Teddy Bears we all love them. They are soft, cuddly and huggable. Did you know that the teddy Bear is over 100 years old now? He was named after then (1902), President Theodore Roosevelt whose attendants cornered, clubbed, and tied American Black Bear to a willow tree.

They called for the President who would not harm the bear, saying it was unsportmanship. The story became reknowned and not only did president Roosevelt became popular, so did the bear gain notoriety.

At this same time in Germany The Steiff bear was made from Richard Steiff's designs from whence he sent 3000 of his designs to America. From there we gained toy companies and many books on the adventures of the teddy bear.

Today there has become renewed interest in Teddy Bears. Teddy Bear artists handiwork is used to create teddybears, like Alpaca. Chain store Bears are appearing like Vermont Teddy Bears, and Build a Bear Workshops which are built at a malls.

Gund manufactured toy stuffed animals. Gund was one of the first manufacturers of the Teddy Bears, founded by Adolph Gund in 1898. Gund created standards for the first toy manufacturing. Gund retired in 1925 and sold his business to Sveldin. He had the first license, producing plush toy versions of cartoon characters of Felix the Cat, Mickey Mouse, and Popeye,

Gund was recognized for their infamous slogan, "Gotta Getta Gund." Gund is just as infamous today selling over 1500 stuffed animals including: Baby Gund, Gund Bears, Gund Snuffles teddy bears, and Gund Holiday. They are known for under stuffing their stuffed animals making them soft and plush.
