There's a new craze sweeping the nation and it's hula hooping! Grown men and women, as well as children, are spinning hula hoops to get fit. The last time this craze swept the country was in the 1950's.
History of the hula hoop
A hula hoop is a round hoop that is twirled around the waist for fun or exercise. The hula hoop can be traced back to Ancient Greece where the Greeks used hooping as a form of exercise.
In the past, hoops have been made from metal, bamboo, wood, grasses and vines, however, modern hula hoops are normally plastic; they are often filled with glitter and noise makers and some are even collapsible.
