RAMBLINGS........... HULK SAY: HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!
OMG! How was your day? I hope you had a better day than this HULK fan! You won't believe the day I had. First I sent a wrong piece of equipment for repairs ( and there was nothing wrong with it ) but somehow the person I sent it to tore it apart and sent me a list of reasons why it isn't working anymore.
Then I drive all 100 miles to send my medical tools to my surgeon for a trial use and I left a very important piece of instrument to work the tools back at the office! OMG. I nearly died in my car.
I thought of turning back and driving the 100 miles back to the office only to realise that I would never make it back to the customer in time for my appointment.
I drove on to my destination. And explained to the surgeon that he would have to use the tools without it.
Then I remembered that I left some important documents back at the office. Swell, I thought. I lit up my cigarette because the only alternative left was to jump out from my car. ( while I was driving it !)
Then I lost my way around town.
What a day. The lesson learnt? CONCENTRATE on the stuff you're supposed to do and do it right.
Or it'll cost you.

In case you hadn't noticed- we're going into the seventh month of the year- half of 2008 and gee whiz..... ( I know, I know! ) TIME just flies. Faster than a speeding bullet. No, make that faster than the speed of light. I wonder, how's life with you? Has everything been going the way you've planned? Does it ever? I know you made resolutions.... but did you keep all of them? Did you do any of them?
No? Well, me NEITHER! But it's never too late to start is it? To get cracking and doing the things you need to- whether it's to make your first million or to lose the old "spare tyres" - it's never too late. All we need to do is to take the FIRST STEP. The rest comes easy! It's true!
On the other hand, if you've kept your New Year resolutions than I congratulate you- and say you are already there! Keep it up!
As for me- I'll see you! Gotto hit the weight room now and make like the HULK! ( or try..... )

COMIC BOOKS: John Byrne's Fantastic Four. Hey guys, how are things? Hope life is treating you good. If not, just find a really nice and quiet spot ( a hill FAR away from prying eyes is good ) and scream your lungs out. Believe me, it helps! Okay, I thought I'd give my two cents worth on some comics I read recently.
Sorry, they're not the latest stuff in the market. (New comics are just way too pricey for this old boy's pockets! ) No, it's not even about the Incredible Hulk comics. But guess what I just recently bought and read. John Bryne's 80s run of the Fantastic Four! ( If you've read them already then I assume you would have had alot of fun just like I did. )
Yep, if you dig comics you would probably have heard of John. If you're just getting into reading the funny books then you must read some of his work.
Go to wikipedia and do a search on him for more information about one of the most prolific comic book creators around- all I know is he's Canadian and instrumental along with Chris Claremont in making Wolverine one of the most popular characters in comics today. ( Although Len Wein actually created Wolverine- it was Chris along with Bryne that added depth into the character of Wolverine in the X Men comics.) By the way- Bryne worked briefly on the Incredible HULK series- from issues #314- #319.
For those of you that watched the Fantastic Four movies and fell in love with them but you've never read the comic book series- go pick up FF issues # 232- 293 and read them. John Bryne made quite a name for himself with FF fans during his take on the famous four. Great stuff. Go check it out.
RAMBLINGS.. What did you see recently?
But boy, was it worth the price. I don't know if you've watched the show before, but if you're into comics and the Justice League- you'd probably love it.
If all animated series came as good as this one- it'd be great. From the same folks that brought you the emmy award winning Superman and Batman animated series- this one has it all.
Great action and storytelling- awesome animation to boot and in some instances- the series improved on some of the DC comcis characters- e.g- Black Canary, Captain Atom for example. In fact Green Arrow never looked better.
One thing though- the two-parter pilot episodes may not be to your liking. Skip them or better still, jump to the fourth episode if you're not a continuity freak- you'll be happier and you won't be missing anything anyways.
Anyhows, go get the whole series- it's worth it. ( Yes, I am a continuity freak! )
Lame Comic Book Character Changes!
mommy help. Sticky palms. No wonder Mary Jane's been avoiding me and I have no friends. .....sob sob
They changed the origins! They changed the characters! They changed the costumes! They even gave Spider man real webbing that he could shoot from his wrists! Talk about major cardinal sins!!!
Arggghhhhhhh! Boy oh boy, them big movie directors sure have the nerve. Anyway, let's take a look at the not so great changes we've seen with our favorite SUPER HEROES on TV and in the movies- and vote for the worst change- Shall we?
PUNY HUMAN SAY HULK HANDSOME OR HULK SMASH!!
An Introduction- Who is this mean, big, half naked green giant who can't seem to keep his clothes in one piece ?
What's big, mean and green? You won't like Hulk when he's angry! To all and one, I want to warmly welcome you to this HULK lens . I hope that if you've never liked the big green guy before, you soon will- after checking out ol' Greenskin here!Created by legends and our heroes- Stan Lee ( pictured right) and artist Jack Kirby way back in the early 60s, the Hulk is loosely based upon the idea behind the original man turns into a monster story of Mr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde.
As with all of his creations, Stan gave our green Goliath a little twist Where Mr. Hyde was a brutish, murderous monster with an overpowering sadistic nature, at least he was still intelligent- and as fate and Stan would have it- the Hulk had the intellect of a five year old and was thus highly misunderstood. (Poor Guy!)
He was also as innocent as any five year old was. Often, all he wanted was to be left alone and to himself. And as any ol greenskin fan knows, the Hulk loved retreating into nature (nearby parks or woods) after a battle or even after a world-shaking rampage.
It's always somehow managed to soothe and calm the rampaging beast that is the Hulk.(and no, he doesn't sing with the birds and hang out with Bambi in the woods!) The Hulk has undergone countless transformation and change since then- Going from just dumb to sharing a single mind with his alter-ego (Dr.Robert Bruce Banner) and at one point in time literally separated as two different individuals by Doc Samson ( more on Doc below...) in an experiment! Once he was even a mindless rampaging monster destroying anything that came across his path.
Today ol' greenskin once agian shares his mind with that of his alter-ego (Dr.Bruce Banner) with the latter influencing the always angry and rampaging beast that is the Hulk. And that's a good thing too. whew. (check out the latest HULK development on the movie and comic books below..)

Also interesting was the fact that the Hulk was originally grey but because of problems with color reproduction the Hulk soon became green very quickly!(around the second issue.)

WHAT'S LIFE GOT TO DO WITH IT?When I heard that prolific Hulk writer ( during the 70s and the 80s) Bill Mantlo was struck by a hit and run driver and suffered a closed-head traumatic brain injury from which he has never recovered, I was shocked to say the least.
Shocked that someone whose work I've admired and loved as a comic book fan had this happen to him.
I mean, he used to write all those comic books I loved! How could something so cruel happen to Bill... I thought. Happen to one of my favorite writers, who gave me so much joy when I read about the adventures of the characters he wrote about... and then it hit me.
I realised- or at least, remember that our lives are all too brief, and that whether we liked it or not- we have to accept that our lives could end in a moment- and without so much as a warning or a notice. Certainly, Bill did not deserve the fate life chose to deal him with- but it happened. And we pray for him. LET'S SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT: HE DID NOT HAVE A ACCIDENT IN A LAB.
I can't for the love of heaven figure out why people would want to change something when it "ain't" broken, If you can change it and make it better, that's great. if not- please don't. ( I'm talking to movie directors and such..) Anyway the HULK's real origins are as follows-
- In a nut shell, the Hulk was created when Dr. Bruce Banner- was caught in the heart of an explosion from a Gamma bomb that he had created while working on a top secret weapons project as the head scientist.
The Location: In a secret ( where else? ) milltary base. - He ( Bruce Banner )was trying to save a young and then reckless Rick Jones who had wandered into the blast site on a dare. ( More on Rick below..)
What's really interesting and ironic is that Banner actually created the very monster he has sworn to destroy- the Hulk, by creating the very bomb that created the Hulk! ( aRghhh... forget that..) Just watch the below HULK video and you'll see what I mean. ( Hopefully! )

THE HULK'S FAVORITE PAST TIME ACTIVITIES....
- The Hulk would often find himself in a park or a quiet forest (is there any other..) to calm down and relax- often reverting back to plain Bruce Banner in the process. Poor doctor Banner had to always find a way back afterwards!
- Going on meaningless rampages is another favorite past time for our favorite monster- but I guess that's what monsters do anyways!
- Going for a dip at the beach with his favorite brown trunks.
- The Hulk loves refering to himself as a third person. e.g- Hulk is the strongest one there is! Or HULK SMASH! But you already knew that didn't you?

Where would our green skinned superhero monster be without his friends, family and lovers? Everybody needs some friends and a couple of nice ladyfriends once in a while and our purple pants superhero is no exception...plus did you know that the Hulk's probably the unluckiest dude when it comes to realtionships and weddings?! Betty's dead and so is Jarella.. but what about Caiera? Read about them in this lens! THE BAD GUYS!

And just how many green, gamma radiated anti-heroes that we know of wear purple pants that cling on forever- no matter the waist size? (laws of gravity be damned!)

My vote for the most "wanted" hero vs hero fights of all time- goes to Hulk vs Superman- because if anyone can give the Hulk a black eye, it's got to be the big blue boy scout! Who would win in a fight superman or the incredible hulk? (no kryptonite involved)?
I think I can speak on behalf of all comic fans out there that- as far as superhero fights go, it can't get bigger than Superman against the Hulk- and that it's every fan's dream to see a fight between two of the most popular and powerful characters in comics.

The Avengers VS The Hulk
End battle from the first Ultimate Avengers animated movie. After The Avengers and The Hulk beat back an alien invasion, the enraged Hulk continued his rampage... Ultimate Avengers Animated Movie Cast: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Giantman & Wasp, Nick Fury, Black Widow, and loosely the Hulk. Per wikipedia: "The rotating roster [of the Avengers] has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand — hence their battle cry, 'Avengers Assemble!' The team has featured humans, robots, gods, aliens, supernatural beings, and even former villains." I highly recommend giving this animated film a watch on blu-ray if possible. The sequel is also available now, and a 3rd is in the works.

CLASSIC CLASHES BETWEEN THE TITANS!
When super heroes loved around the world over meet and a fight inevitably must ensue, it can only mean one thing- heaps of fun!Which is why fans all over can never wait too long to see their favorite heroes meet for a nice sunday afternoon brawl and expect these meetings to be monumental great works of comic book art and excitement.
A fanboy's comic book dream come true when it was learnt that Marvel and DC would work to produce the greatest slugfests of all time.. iconic super heroes would meet and duke it out to the finish!
Fans eagerly waited for the soon to come Marvel vs DC which promised to be the mother of all titanic clashes between iconic favorite super heroes. Fans would vote for their favorite character to win the punch-up. Storm would fight Wonder Woman, Thor would take on Captain Marvel and the list goes on. So what could possible go wrong with a "winner" like this? Ohhh, but everything! I guess it doesn't always work that way. Point in case- Marvel vs DC.
We'll take a look at this mega disappointing fare from the two comic book giants later below.

In the meantime- Fans have had the opportunity to see their favorite heroes clash even way back in the seventies- and here they are...
Superman VS The Amazing Spider-Man (1976): The first DC/Marvel crossover. Decent, entertaining and fun storyline which features two of the most popular super heroes going toe to toe. A very honest outcome- as many fans will agree, (even spidey fans) with Supes winning the battle.
The Incredible Hulk VS. Superman (1981):
The Hulk takes the first round; only to have Supes came back and take the next. Supes wins.
Batman VS. The Incredible Hulk (1981):
The Hulk wins! Or does he? One of the weirdest fight outcomes ever with Bats walking away the victor. (arghh..) All the three classic smackdowns are featured in classic Marvel/Dc cross-over vol. 1 pictured above or get it here.
Superman vs the Incredible Hulk (1999)
By Roger Stern and Steve Rude, the Hulk and Superman slug it out agian, but unlike the first 1981 and the later Marvel vs DC fights, this was a story just about the Hulk and Supes. Check it out here!

CLASH OF THE TITANS TOO
MARVEL VS DC (1996)MARVEL WON in the very disappointing Marvel versus DC ( pictured on your right..) by Ron Marz and various artists.
In one of the most eagerly anticipated cross-over series ever which would feature every flagship super heroes from both Marvel and DC comics slugging it out with each other to the finish as voted by fans- (which was great) failed to impress with its weak plot and rather lame excuse for a storyline.
Uninspiring and predictable, you're left wondering if that time you spent reading it could have been spent doing something more fun...( like taking out the trash..)
In a nut shell, the story failed to excite ( so did penciller Dan Jurgen's pages ) and the fights between the heroes were just- well, too short, unexciting and contrived, not to mention rushed..leaving you with just a really bad taste in your mouth and a few bucks poorer.

Based on the classic fight scene in Frank Miller's run in Daredevil, this statue says it all. Love really kills sometimes...
VENOM vs SPIDEY Based on the cover of the second printing of the Marvel Zombies hardcover, it's Spidey zombie vs Venom zombie to the finish! Even in the afterlife, there's no peace between these two enemies! Talk about grudges..
What happens when two iconic super heroes square off in a fight to the finish? Things break. Big things! The amazon princess versus the man of steel in a fight to the bitter end? One more reason why these two should never be allowed to be a couple. The term domestic violence could take on a whole new meaning! By the way these two rumbled in an episode of the excellent Justice League animated series. Another beautiful piece of collector's statue that will disappear fast.

Adamantium claws, unbreakable bones and superhuman healing factor versus a well oiled adamantium sheild carrying super soldier extraordinaire! (These two tangled in Captain America annual # 8. ) Bets please!

It's fun to note that the Marvel Universe is filled with tons of really powerful and nutty superheroes- not to mention the villians and one of the most powerful would be the Hulk.
As powerful as the Hulk is- in the Marvel Universe, there are other equally and more powerful characters that's more than a match for our green superhero.
There's no doubt that one of the powerhouses in the list below could or should be able to take the Hulk out- but who do you think could do it the fastest?

THE BIG GREEN'S NEW MOVIE NEWS....
Okay, we've seen the new HULK movie. I saw it twice. Did you see it? What do you think? ( Look somewhere below for a poll on this... )
My thoughts on the new HULK movie? A much faster and satisfying movie-although lacking in depth, it was at least fun. lOTS of action to satisfy and entertain that's for sure.
My gripes with the movie were-
1) THe choppy CG HULK... ( there were times when HULK appeared cartoonish as well. )
2)The choppy CG HULK.
Okay, okay to be fair he looked better than the Ang Lee one- This is a very savage looking HULK and is reminscent of the 70s comic book HULK.
If I had to sum up the new incredible Hulk's movie in one word it would be: Origin of the HULK is wrong!!! Okay, that's six words.

But did anyone really like Ang Lee's take on the Hulk? Did it make real money at the box office? Was it any good?
Everyone has a different opinion. Considered a failure as far as box office returns are concerned, ( by Hollywood standards ) Ang Lee's Hulk recieved mixed feelings and reaction from movie goers and critics alike. There are of course, others that thought Hulk was a great movie, one that had all the elements of an epic of grand scale porpotions.
The truth is you either love it or hate it. The average movie goer expects a great sci-fi adventure movie , while comic book fans just want to see their favorite gamma spawned monster do his thing but what Ang Lee instead offered was an epic love story with a touch of soap and opera- with a little action thrown in for good measure- which pretty much sums up what Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon..oops.. Hulk was about. So there it is! Why Hulk just didn't cut it for a lot of folks. Crouching tiger sequel disguised as a Hulk movie! No rocket science here....
So what did this old comic book geek think of Ang Lee's Hulk? Simply put, it could have been better. Not a bad movie overall- fairly entertaining and like all decent movies it definately has it's moments - the desert scene where the Hulk takes on the military is big fun.
Great special effects on the Hulk- Ang Lee said that the Hulk would have looked flawless and "inhumanly" real had he not been green in the movie.
The Hulk is as he should be- a big green raging monster that gets stronger everytime he gets madder.
Stuff that sucked in the movie? Weird comic book panels that don't belong in a film- seemingly thrown in as a tribute to the Hulk's humble comic book roots, and a really terrible anti-climatic fight between Banner and his nutcase power crazy dad, the Absorbing Man.
Conclusion? It's obvious Ang Lee put in a lot of heart into this movie. To his credit, if there are any disappointments with Ang Lee's Hulk, it isn't that it did not lack a soul, because it had plenty. Rather, what it should have really been was a great super hero movie with a big green raging monster in it. It should have also been paced faster with less talk ( and boy, they do talk alot in this movie..) with a lot more slam bang action in it. Really, it could have been better. Oh well......

Making the perfect COMIC BOOK MOVIE! Is anyone ever going to get it right? Okay, okay, there have been some great CBMs (COMIC BOOK MOVIES) made over the years but-
Has anyone also noticed that we've been seeing a whole bunch of crap (excuse the word) comic book movies made over the recent years? Now before any of you nice folks out there start sending me hate letters and death threats- please let me explain.
I love comic books. And so like you, I naturally love comic book movies! What could be possibly cooler than to see our favourite comic book characters come alive and do their thing on the silver screen? (Except maybe winning a cool million.) We say, the more the merrier. Bring it on!
We want more comic book movies! But we only ask one thing.(after all, without us, the fans -there wouldn't be comic books let alone movies....)
We ask that they're done right. We ask Hollywood to give our favorite characters the respect that they deserve and that the adaptation stays true to the comic book version.
First realizing true moolah-making potential with successful box-office mega hits like Tim Burton's Batman and the early 70s Superman movies- thanks to the amazing advancements in computer animation technology there has never been a better time for Hollywood to produce comic book movies which require high flying special effects. And we can certainly expect more to come -
But is more better? Not necessarily. Now a lot of you guys out there may not agree with anything I've said so far and you're entitled to your opinions and I respect that. I remember reading once about someone saying that a Superman movie with "rebuild the great wall of China x-ray vision" is better than no Superman movie at all. (yep,Superman 4 starring Chris Reeves.)But somehow I don't think so. Why you ask?
How many of you guys can say you love it?
Or remember enjoying it? Or remember it at all? Can you imagine trying to enjoy a bad super hero flick with a hot date while trying your darnest to convince her that comic books are cool and aren't only for her baby kid brother?
And try convincing her while you explain why Superman has "repair the great Wall of China vision."

This is my personal list of really bad comic book movies that should have never been made! The one that made number one in my list is Constantine. (sorry, Keanu fans!)
Based on the critically acclaimed and successful Vertigo comic book by DC COMICS-(which today has garnered a cult following) the series follows the adventures of John Constantine- an engimatic,weary, devil may care chain-smoking everyday Englishman who dabbles in the occult- a man who is constantly tormented and haunted by a dark past he cannot escape-as a consequence of dabbling in the forbidden arts.
This sleeper hit series centers around John's struggles and battles against the forces of darkness, the evil in men, demons, devils and angels alike- using only his wits, cunning and a little bit of "magic" and luck.
Created by comic book writer and legend Alan Moore, John Constantine (Hellblazer) was first introduced as a supporting character in the Swamp Thing series and later given his own monthly title in 1988.
Writer Alan Moore may have created John but it was misters Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis who developed and crafted the character of John and made him one of the most complex characters to ever come into the comics scene.
In my opinion I will say that CONSTANTINE the movie is hands down, the worst comic book movie ever made in history. Ever. At least to me. The movie took one too many liberties when adapting the comic and to say many Constantine fans were upset is an understatement.
So you ask what's wrong with this movie? How about everything? For starters, John is English but the movie depicts him as an American and the list of "mistakes" just goes on and on. To add insult to injury, the movie(spoiler ahead for those who have not watched it)ends with John "chewing" gum and indicating a strong resolve to quitting his trade mark chain-smoking habit forever-something that would be totally out of character as his "smokes" are an essential and crucial part or aspect of the character that is John Constantine.
(In the comics, John immediately lights up a cigarette only moments after tricking the devil into curing his lung cancer and cheekily proceeds on to give Lucifer the finger..)
I'm sure there are other rotten CBMs.. But the below make the top 10. Do let me know if there are others that should make this list. Thanks!

and now..the TOP TEN (FEEL FREE TO ADD TO THIS LIST..) GREATEST SUPERHERO MOVIES!
Although there have been so many bad comic book movies made, (the list on top is only a handful- there are more of course) it's a good thing that there have been great ones made too!The movie that makes number one on my list for the best ever screen adaptation of a comic book hero is none other than..(drum roll please) Spiderman 2!
These are some reasons that Spiderman 2 is the best superhero flick ever made. (you will agree with me.)
An awesome storyline and superb plot with all the right ingredients thrown in made it a powerful movie in every sense of the word. Suspense, action, romance, thrills and spills a minute and an exceptionally emotional roller-coaster ending that had me "crying like a baby" gets my vote for the top spot here.
Possibly the best CBM made ever,(sure I still hate it that Spidey squirts organic webbing and the choice of Kristen for the role of M.J, but hey- at least it was a great movie!) Sam Raimi hits all the right notes on his sequel to the biggie first Spiderman movie- which was also a good movie but did not unfortunately live up to my very high expectations. Nevertheless, we all agree it was a very,very good movie.
We've had some fun watching some great Comic Book Movies after Spidey 2 (most notably 300 based on the Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name) but nothing has come close to topping Spidey 2 for all the reasons mentioned above.
To Mr.Sam Raimi, thank you for a great superhero movie!

HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT COMIC BOOK MOVIE for DUMMY DIRECTORS!
- Get a great script from an equally great writer!
- Great writer must love the character in spades! Research is essential!
- listen to the creators of the character, or characters. They know best. Not you.
- Listen to what the fans want too. They made the character great!
- Try not to change the character. Remember, you don't need to fix what's ain't broken yo! e.g- if a character's hair color is brown, don't make it black. They're great the way they were that's why millions love them all over the world.. kapish?
- Be bolder when making a comic book movie. Don't take away costumes or change them because you think the average movie-goer will not accept colorful spandex wearing characters. ( if you are nevertheless still concerned, DO NOT make a superhero movie. Stay with other genres. There are many.) Their costumes have worked for decades. It's why you're going to make zillions making a movie about them. You don't have to think you know better than the creators that created them or the fans that have love them for decades and replace them with your own uninspired designs. You're not that
smart. - Keep the characters consistant with the funny books. The character's success thus far has nothing to do with your own visions. You can improve on the concept but please do not think you should change it. Again, please be reminded that these characters are loved by millions all over the world because of one reason and one reason alone. That you did not create them.
Follow this guide to make zillions and outdo Spiderman at the box office. What ever happens, you would have at least made a respectable comic book movie and we will love you for that. Fans and movie-goers alike.

Expect a whole slew of CBMs to come your way in the close and near future- because for the last ten years or more, Hollywood has been trying to get its' greedy little hands on every and any comic book property it deems to be hot-
and it sure doesn't look like they're slowing down anytime soon!

It's comic book movie review time! Two great heroes, two great legends star in their own feature lenght animated movie... but which was better? Which sucked? It's marvel vs dc agian- which made the better movie?
IRON MAN
This animated Iron man movie is directed by Frank Paur ( X-Men: Evolution, Batman: The Animated Series) and stars the voices of Marc Worden as Tony Stark ( Iron Man) and Gwendoline Yeo as Li Mei reveals the origins of the golden armored avenger Iron Man and features the villiany of his arch-enemy the Mandarin.
In trying to raise the ruins of a long buried Chinese kingdom, billionaire industralist and inventor Tony Stark unknowingly unleashes a evil prophecy, one that sees the resurrection of the evil tyrant- the Mandarin, once emperor of China who ruled the darkest, violent and the most bloodiest dynasty in history.
Tony Stark is caught in the middle of an ages long war between the forces of evil that seek to fufill the prophecy and those that seek to protect mankind from the menace of the Mandarin.
In order to stop the evil that Stark unwillingly releases, he creates an armored suit with high-tech weaponry and Iron Man is born!
While this movie starts off quite well introducing the cast and playboy billionaire Tony Stark in particular, the whole plot is weak, and while there are a couple of twists thrown in, there are no great surprises. The whole plot is tried, tired but worse: just plain unexciting and deadly boring.
Iron Man the movie slows to a crawl after the armored avenger's debut and escape from his captors.
Although there is enough action to satisfy any action craving movie buffs, it's action that doesn't get your heart pumping with any excitement- plentiful but boring: once more due to a lame plot. During these fight scenes you never really feel for Iron Man even when he's taking lumps from the Mandarin's powerful giant henchmen elementals. (four giant magical warriors who harness the power of the elements -- earth, water, wind, and fire ..)
In this movie Tony gets a chance to don three different armor designs but it is the bulky, boring prototype design that is worn by Tony in his unclimatic battle with the Mandarin at the end of the movie. A movie that tries very hard to excite but fails miserably- with useless one dimensional characters, ( Mei Li )boring action scenes, uninspiring performance from the voice actors and a really poor storyline- how could it do any other?
The animation isn't to my liking as well, it's great in some instances ( the four elementals are beautifully animated and designed..) but the action scenes are unexciting.
Warning: Watch this only if you need something to help you get some zzzs and you know sleeping pills are not an option .
SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY
From the brilliant people behind "Justice League Unlimited" ( great series! ) and "The Batman" ( another great series..) comes yet another brilliant animated feature "Superman: Doomsday" which as you might know, is adapted from the hit comic book storyline arc written by Dan Jurgens.
The story begins with Lex Luthor unearthing an alien spacecraft while searching for a new power resource miles below the earth's surface. Unaware of the dangerous cargo which the alien ship carried, the crew of the expedition team unleashes an intergalactic super-soldier monster Doomsday, initially designed for combat but eventually because it could not distinguish between friend and foe it is sent away by its alien creators after failing to destroy it: now this monster is loose on earth and will destroy anything that comes arcoss its' path- no matter what the object!
While Clark Kent struggles with his identity and relationship with Lois Lane, he is forced into battle with this powerful monster that will not stop until every single living thing on earth is destroyed: Superman makes the ultimate sacrfice in this thrilling movie, one not to be missed. This animated adventure features the voice talents of Adam Baldwin (Serenity), Anne Hache (Men in Trees) and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Superman Doomsday gets 8 stars out of 10. Great movie!
This round goes to DC for producing an awesome and exciting animated feature film. DC's produced far better animated series thus far and has done a great job with its characters in animated movies and tv than Marvel has- as evident with the Batman series, Superman the animated series, Justice League. By the way, Marvel's latest Fantastic Four tv series offering is so lame we probably shouldn't even mention it. Oops... just did. Sorry..
