It is an atrocity that humans are exploited like this . . I read somewhere of a child in an impoverished nation telling a reporter: 'If I venture out of my village, in any direction I will be sold for $30.' I just can't believe human beings can do this to one another. An excellent lens, so worthy of your purple star. Sincerely, Rose

Our church has provided housing for women who were victims of trafficking in our area, and every so often, cooperate with the police in sting operations and raids of houses used for trafficking. It can be done. We simply must dare to do the right thing.

This is truly the worst offense against the human race. I couldn't bear to watch the videos as I wept from reading this. Human trafficking and child slavery numbers are staggering if included are the numbers enslaved by corporations for our basic commodities like chocolate, coffee, and clothing. Thanx 4 writing content that matters.

Human trafficking is a sad reality. I served one term as the Vice Chair for a southern african regional network, SANTAC, and I could not believe how well organized these human trafficking syndicates are.
Sadly, communities in general are not aware of these dangers.

Great lens. Touched me deeply even though I no longer am working in the field.

This is painful but necessary to know about. Thanks for being brave enough to bring it to our attention.
  • clifRad Dec 11, 2011 @ 1:03 am | delete
This bad but hard to track. It is hard to know if it is hoopla or as vast as mentioned. I'm on the streets and while I know of prostitution, we aren't seeing this. Maybe it is big in other localities.
  • WhitU4ever Dec 11, 2011 @ 7:01 am | delete
They frequently rent a house in our area. We are closer to the border of Mexico than Seattle, so it is quite easy for these girls to be trafficked to Mexico and other countries from there. It is very important to keep an eye on our children at all times.

GREAT lens! I try to convince others that this is a current issue in this world, but so many are not aware of it.

Whenever I feel happy because I'm safe and sad because there are some children who are suffering this and I can't do anything.

I am really glad that this lens brought to light an issue that affects humanity! It is unfortunate that something like this continues to exist! Thank you for the information

Very sad, but very important information.
  • WhitU4ever Apr 25, 2011 @ 6:21 pm | delete
Although it is difficult to watch, it is very important for all to see. Please pass it on. Every issue each lens I make covers is put together to inform others who might be able to reach farther than I can all by myself. If there is a way to help, please do so. My church is doing what it can, but there is so much more out there that we haven't even seen yet.

Thanks for visiting, and for caring enough to do what you can, even if it is only a prayer. Prayer works. It is much more powerful than most of us realize, because God is really listening, and God cares more than all of us. He sees the big picture. We don't. And the bad things that happen are not His fault. They are ours. So love Him with all your heart and simply be His. That is enough, because out of that relationship will come more than you ever would have thought, if that relationship is genuine and not for gain, but out of love for Him alone.

    ~ Whit

Alas, slavery is not dead yet! This is an issue that I've found people across the political spectrum--right, left and center--are concerned about, and hopefully can work together on...

In order to stop human trafficking we need to change the immigration laws and get back to basic civil rights . I am an activist in the Hispanic community and it sickens me as it does you, but if nothing is done to persuade our leaders, then, unfortunately this will continue to happen, .I agree it has to stop, where do we start?

A great and informative lens on such an important topic. It never ceases to amaze me how we as humans can treat one other so deplorably. Watching the videos is truly heartbreaking.

This is one of those lenses I love to hate. The stories here are so heartbreaking, but so necessary to bring out and talk about. You have done a great thing here. Lenrolled to my End Racism lens.

Great lens on an important topic. I am aware of this issue but can never be reminded enough. I pray often for those who are being held against their will. This shows how man can be inhumane to man. We must support organizations that fight human trafficking with our resources. Childhood and innocence is a terrible thing to waste. Congrats on the Top 100!

Against the tradition that a queen must be neutral - the Queen of Sweden Silvia, has taken a clear stand against trafficing. Thank you for this lens. I wish she would read it too.

Shocking, heart sickening stories and statistics. Thank you for doing this. Everyone needs to know as much as they can about this evil. Five, fave, and lensroll.

Thanks for stopping by Beck's lens. He got his happy ending, but many people don't.
