Humans and how we are impacting our earth
I had to do this lens for the sake of this earth and the people who call it home. The World Resources Institute says that we will need two earths by the year 2050 if we keep up our current trends of human consumption. When I say human consumption, what do I mean? What do humans consume? Well we consume food, energy, water, and other resources. In some of the wealthier countries we consume way more resources than we actually need to. And just think there are people out there without clean water and people out there who are starving. Now that we are going this far downhill finally people have started to think maybe I will "go green" per say. But so many questions then come along with this idea. Like, isn't going green more expensive, is the government using it to cash in? Is this fair when these are the changes that are needed to save our earth for future generations? Well those things and more I want to discuss in this lens. But first please take a look at the youtube video below. This is what got me thinking so hard on this whole subject. I want to go green but can I afford it? Even though it is more expensive I think it will pay off in the long run for our earth.
What is the government doing?

So after watching this video, we will start our first little discussion. What did we learn here? How about we go back over a few facts.
*Out of 100,000 Synthetic chemicals used to make the products we consume only a handful are actually tested on how they are effecting the environment.
*The government admits to releasing 4 billion lbs of toxic chemicals into our environment a year. (And like she says this is only what they admit to)
*30% of kids in the Congo have dropped out to mine, to help make our electronics. (Those poor kids)
* And the kicker here, the average person consumes TWICE as much as 50 years ago.
This is just insane!! And these are only a few facts about where the world is going wrong.

Never pay an electric bill again
Would you like to have your own home made energy?
Never pay an electric bill again. I didn't even know it was possible. But i just recently found out that it is actually easier than ever.
You can DIY your own solar or wind powered energy source. Are you ready to get started? Are you ready to say bye bye to that electric bill forever?
If so then please Click Here! and be confident that you are powering your own house. Going green and loosing a bill at the same time, that sounds awesome to me!!
Start saving energy right now
Free ways to save energy

There are tons of free ways to save energy that you could be implementing in your home right now. So let's go over a few you may or may not have heard of.
1) Wash your clothes in cold water.
2) Hang dry, or if you do prefer to use your dryer do not over dry your clothes.
3) Turn off those lights, as you probably have heard since childhood.
4) Let the dishwasher do the work for you. This means don't rinse, it just wastes extra water.
5) Do put your pc to sleep. Putting your pc asleep when you sleep can help you use 80% less electricity.
6) Use sunlight to heat or cool your house. Raising the shades or closing them can make a small difference in the temperature of your home, and the temperature that you keep your thermostat at.
7) Keep your ac clean and it will run more efficiently, which in turn will help cut usage and cost.
8) Use your crockpot more for cooking, it uses way less energy then simmering on the stove.
9) Use the microwave instead of the oven if and when possible.
10) Drive a smaller car, and drive steadily. Speeding up, hitting the gas, and even abrupt breaking can all make you use more gas.
Stop pollution!
Big companies that are going green

So those big "wealthy companies" we discussed in the beginning, they are to blame for a lot of our pollution. For some time now they have been shot down by environmental activists. All the toxic chemicals they use in products, and that they release into our air. Not to mention how many valuable resources they use. Well there are a number of big companies out there that took this in mind. They are going green. I thought we could take some time to thank them for caring about our earth, our home. After all it is their home too.
1) Thanks to Bank Of America for saving more paper, and recycling 30,000 tons of paper each year.
2) Thanks to General Electric for its Ecomagination products, solar panels.
3) Thanks to McDonalds for changing their ways in general to make the business more eco friendly.
4) Thanks to Walmart for making a plan to eventually power all of their stores will 100% renewable energy.
5) Thanks to Target for their plan to make an eco friendly clothing line.
And some other Thanks go to:
Ceres, Dupont, Innovest, Home Depot, Anheuser-Busch, Pratt & Whitney, Starbucks, Telsa Motors, Coca-Cola, Enterprise rent a car, Sunpower, Patagonia, Ikea, Toyota, Dell, Brooks, Honda, Continental Airlines, Tesco, S.C. Johnson, Goldman Sachs, Hewlett-Packard, TJX Companies, Nike, UPS, and Yahoo.
For being informed and making a change. For our Future.
Other types of human consumption
Take a look at these youtube videos. I am going to let them do the explaining on other types of human consumption. Like water, food and other natural resources. I think you will be amazed at how much we consume these days. Also some other environmental problems you may not know that much about.

The global warming conspiracy
So I have been reading up on conspiracy stuff lately. And rumor has it with theorist that the government tricked us into thinking global warming is already happening. So that we will buy more expensive, "green" products.
Could it be possible and if so why?
There are a lot of compelling sites on both sides. What do you think.
