We Love Animals

FAMILY PETS
by JJ

There is nothing quite as wonderful for a family as a pet. They give us unconditional love, friendship, safety, laughter, kisses, warmth, patience, loyalty, sympathy, enthusiasm, and then more love.

I have had a lot of pets over my lifetime. They have each touched my heart deeply. Did you know that the majority of inmates in jail never had a pet? It's amazing how animals and caring for animals and getting that love in return can affect our lives.

Just some or the pets my family had when I was growing up were tortoises, a hamster, a beagle, various hurt and re-habbed (by us) birds, tropical fish, guppies, a mini grey poodle, 2 rabbits, 2 sick baby tortoises we nursed back (feeding with eye-droppers) to health, more re-habbed birds, a guinea pig... and I think that's it.

As an adult, my parents got a tiny little Yorkie terrier. When married, my husband and I had 2 mice, a variety of hermit crabs, a "visiting" apartment cat that came and went, a Siberian husky (from the Humane Society), brine shrimp, a temporary visit of a caterpillar and then butterfly (WOW and then bye, bye), a tabby cat (adopted), a border collie mix dog (also from the Humane Society, and an outdoor pond full goldfish. Whew! Who knew?

Have you ever added up all the animals that have come in and out of your life? And those did not even count neighbor animals we came to love, helped feed, and hugged.

This is a humble Squidoo lens. I do not yet have a lot of useful information to share with you. I do not have many words of wisdom. But I do have a love for animals and the deep hope that this site will touch your heart and inspire you to help the Humane Society of the United States. This is a wonderful time-tested organization that deserves our support. Please join me by shopping at Amazon and eBay through the links below. It costs you nothing extra and you will be helping those who help us every day of our lives. Pets.
