Humans Beings - Who Are We? Origin of Our Beliefs?

What do you believe in? Why do you believe that? Do you have an open mind to consider new clues and evidence as it is discovered and brought to light, or are you in the habit of simply following the old conventional concepts and doctrines that you have become familiar with, you know, the ones you were taught in science or history classes at school or the religious classes you have attended?

We are all so busy just taking care of daily responsibilities and handling the endless pressures and challenges of our daily lives that there seems little time left over to spend any serious time or effort in analyzing or evaluating the source of our beliefs, learning about human history, and searching into the mysteries of who we are, why we are here, and just what is our purpose in life anyway. After all, that responsibility is left to the religious and spiritual leaders to sort out, because they have been enlightened and are in some sort of communication with God. Surely they have been inspired by truth, are being led by truth, and are therefore telling us the truth.

Many of us were taught when we were young children to believe in the religion or spiritual concepts of our parents. There were various degrees of its relevance to daily life activities according to the devoutness we experienced while growing up with our parents. Some of us accompanied our parents to religious services on a regular basis, and some of us were simply sent to religious training of one belief or another. Some of us had virtually no religious or spiritual training at all, either because our parents did not believe that such things were important enough, they were too busy with other matters, or their spiritual belief was not of enough significance to place much emphasis on family activities, or they were unsure and confused so training and education in this area was left pretty much a void.

Regardless of what we were exposed to in our private homes, most of us were taught in school a smattering of the ancient legends and myths that infiltrate the teachings of human history in our classic school textbooks, but there was little, if any reference, as to the possibility that within some of these ancient myths lie some of the keys and clues to who we are and why we are here.

Whatever our experience and however we picked up our information, at whatever age or under whatever circumstances, these things shaped our belief system. Even if that belief system has led one to total frustration, distrust and disavowing of anything resulting in a staunch belief in nothing, then such a person believes in something, which is nothing.

The question is, what is the truth? How do we know if our belief systems are sourced in truth, does our belief system really matter in the grand scheme of things, and is it possible to know who we are, why we are here, and what our purpose in life is? With so many conflicting ideas throughout human history, all proclaiming to have the truth, something is definitely amiss.

My earliest memories of religion and beliefs was through sitting in Sunday worship services with my granny listening to the local rural Lutheran minister preach "hell and brimstone" sermons that were very frightening. My parents rarely attended the church services; however, I know that my parents had my best interests in mind. Granny was a devout Lutheran church member, so they trusted my youngest exposure to religious training to her, a steadfast and very strict follower of her religious beliefs. For instance, on Sundays she did absolutely no work, none, nilch, nada. She even made her sandwich the evening before. I was sent to Sunday school and Bible school classes in the summertime. I learned the basic stories of the bible that are typically taught to young children in Christian religious practices.

During my adolescent years I developed an obsessive earnest yearning to further explore religion and beliefs. I had a deep yearning to understand life on another level and tried to figure out what to believe in. I wound up joining four different Christian churches over the next few years, and tried hard to learn and accept their doctrines as the truth upon which principles I could have the utmost faith in and fashion my life. But something was always missing. Later on, as a young woman, I and my fiancee, at the time, joined a different type of Christian church that we first learned of by listening to a radio program. This church initially interested us because the messages they were broadcasting seemed to be in tune with current world events, and we initially did not even recognize it as a church, but rather an interesting perspective of the news.

They didn't seem to be soliciting people just to increase their numbers, and in fact, it was difficult to even find their local congregation after we discovered that there was one. This church taught strict doctrines following much of the old testament in observing the holy days, etc. We were taught to believe in a strict observance of the Sabbath Day on Saturday, rather than Sunday. We were taught to believe that "paganism" permeated much of the celebrations practiced and promoted and not to observe the standard holidays such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and even birthdays. It was a close knit church group with a worldwide membership and they even operated and maintained their own college. Though they taught a lot of strict doctrine that sometimes was difficult to accept, there were many things I strongly resonated with such as natural medicine and strong family principles. I remained in this church for about eight years, during which time our three children were born.

One of the strict doctrines that this church believed in and taught was that of not accepting divorce, and so married couples who had previous divorces were forced to separate if they wanted to be a member of this church that proclaimed to be the only true church and the only way to God. I witnessed this sad separation happen with several couples that included many children, and it was always very troublesome to me. The belief they had come to accept was so strong within them that they were willing to make that change in their lives and separate their loving families. Then suddenly the church changed their mind and announced one day that they were dropping that doctrine and now previously divorced folks could stay together. This was very good news; however, by this time, many families had been forced to separate under huge heartaches. They had believed that this church taught the truth of God's will, and so they had made this major sacrifice based on the messages and teachings of this fearful and demanding God. When the church made this change, all they did was issue a simple short letter of apology to those whose lives had been traumatically disrupted with little explanation, and it really bothered me. I felt that this important matter warranted more attention and more explanation as to how the church had been so wrong, and how this adamant teaching could not be reversed so easily.

This church kept a firm reign on all its members, and strict adherence of their doctrines was required, so this was the beginning of the end in shaking my faith in the teachings and belief system of this church who proclaimed to be THE way to God. I had great trouble understanding and accepting such a major change with little fanfare in the belief system for which many people had sacrificed so much. I had been taught by this church that God was the same today and always, and yet this sudden switch in directions left me perplexed and confused, and I wondered what would come next.

Some months after that I felt I could no longer follow their strict belief structures that appeared to not be based on truth, after all. And this was also the end of my search for a religion or a church. I was glad to be done of the whole thing. I considered myself spiritual, but had lost all interest of becoming involved in or attending any other organized church or religious services.

That church, incidentally, later was embroiled in scandals, controversies and split up into several smaller segments, some of which are still active today.

I was very inquisitive, and my inner and constant yearning to know who we are, why we are here, how to define a meaningful purpose in life, the relevance of human history to life in this century, and all about religion and beliefs. My strong inquisitiveness and deep yearning to understand what life is all about and our purpose for being here led me to read whatever materials I could get my hands on that could shed a little light and provide some clues on this important matter. I was very busy with life, including a husband and three small children; however, as I began reading and studying these materials and absorbing the messages in the ways that resonated with me, I began to open up to a whole range of ideas and thoughts that I had never before heard of, as possible explanations for our existence on this earth, our place in the universe, and our purpose in life. My intrigue was deepened.

While being a member and follower of the belief system of the church described above, we were required to study on a daily basis religious doctrines and history, and so I had learned a great deal about early and ancient belief origins according to the materials that were provided to me from the church, along with using the Bible as the reference and authority. This material had actually been a major breakthrough in my awareness and realization that many things are not necessarily what they seem or what I have been taught. I learned that politics, religion and beliefs were deeply entwined since ancient times, and that the belief systems that have been passed down generation after generation contain serious questions and doubts of their actual truthfulness. I learned that certain influences and enforced belief systems were foisted upon humans so that they would believe that which the political leaders required that the people believe in.

I learned that there are many similarities in ancient origins of various major religious beliefs. In spite of these similarities, religions and spiritual organizations couldn't have drifted farther apart over the hundreds and thousands of years. The differences created among the religious beliefs and training have caused people of all faiths to engage in all manner of prejudices, unspeakable violence and dreadful acts to be imposed on each other. And on the other side of the coin, religious groups and individuals promote peace, goodwill and are devoted to helping and serving.

I was very confused between the veiled concept of a "supreme loving God" and this "hateful and jealous violent God". I had learned to pray to and worship God, but my religious experiences had followed that of a harsh and fearful God who taught of an ultimate harsh judgment day to come at the end of our lives. I recognized that fear was the main presiding element that I had been taught and was very much a part of my belief system, though I intuitively felt love was the answer, even though fear concepts overshadowed so many things.

My rambling readings led me to learn about strange mysterious places on this earth with unexplainable phenomena. I learned that evidence exists that possibly references such things as extraterrestrial beings and spacecraft, giants on the earth at one time, and places where strange unexplainable mystical events occur, all since ancient times. Some of the things I learned about were the Bermuda Triangle, Stonehenge, the ancient pyramids, Atlantis, the powers of crystal, and other phenomena, all of which, were extremely interesting to me and deepened my intrigue about who are we and why are we here.

However, all this information seemed to be on the fringe and was not taken seriously or held to be particularly interesting or of any value by most people. For instance, it seemed that the vast majority of people ridiculed anyone who took a serious inquiring interest into the possibility of the earth having visits from other beings from somewhere out in the universe. Any opened discussion of strange phenomena occurring at different places on the earth was usually met with a shrug and a nod or a smirk of indifference. I was a quiet seeker of knowledge about this phenomena and other fascinating paranormal topics because I chose not to be ridiculed.

I was also fascinated by certain Biblical references that seemed to support some of this phenomena, as well as reports of modern day people seeing flying saucers and even being abducted by such beings. To me, the possibility of others being out there somewhere was not really surprising at all, because the universe is so big, and I actually thought it a bit silly and kind of being full of ourselves to believe that we are the only ones.

I then became acquainted with some of the more modern self help books that presented theories and ideas supported by ancient philosophers and spiritual leaders who came from a source of love instead of fears. As I began reading these intriguing and fascinating concepts of very different ways of thinking by authors and scholars such as Dr. Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracey and others, I became very excited about human potential and our purpose in life. My mind and heart became open to understanding the spiritual part of us in a whole new way and further wakened this insistent and fervent need in me to know who we are and why we are here.

At first glance, human beings are simply physical creatures made up of matter and chemical properties. Those are the things I was taught in school. It seems simple enough. The characteristics of the matter that we people are composed of has been proven. The study of the human body and knowledge to date of how it functions biologically has led to a vast amount of information and scientific discoveries that have been able to create amazing advances in medical science which saves and improves the quality of the lives of human beings. That information has led to scientific exploration and knowledge that has advanced the state of human beings, and enabled creativity in every field of human interest that continues to amaze and astound us.

There has been much study of the human brain, and we study how our brain functions in our school classrooms. We learn of the extraordinary features of our brains, as well as the rest of the organs that comprise the make up of the physical bodies of human beings. We compare those human characteristics of what people are and the human system with various animal species and find similarities and differences that make us unique from any of the other animal species.

Many people absorb this sort of information, along with the common history taught in classrooms and base their belief systems of living their daily lives on those practical physical compositions and features of the biological human system along with a smattering of some sort of mysterious spiritual belief and faith aspect that are acceptable and compliment their lives. This spiritual belief aspect is the part of us that causes us to treat humans with a greater respect of who people are so that human lives are given greater value than other creatures and other living things of all sorts. This spiritual side of us causes us to have an awareness of a sense of right and wrong, and we make laws that discourage and prevent us from doing harm to one another. And in spite of the difficult and trying times that many of us face, we do everything possible to continue our life on this earth as long as possible.

This spiritual belief aspect of us along with our teachings and environment somehow comprises our faith, our tolerance, and that single mindedness that causes some people to live a life of total servitude and expressing love and caring towards other people such as Jesus or Mother Theresa, and then there is the other extreme of those who devote themselves to the destruction of other humans who do not agree with them. In between those two types of individuals is the belief systems of everyone else.

As our life flows along, we encounter and absorb a never ending stream of information and experiences that continues to shape and mold how we view this thing called life through our human system. Just the study and observation of human personalities is quite interesting. We all know that people respond differently to circumstances that occur. For instance, one person becomes severely injured such as the well known, Chris Reeves, and in spite of incredible odds, uses his misfortune to inspire millions of people with his courage and uplifting attitude, as well as working with other people and organizations to raise funds, awareness, and ultimately improve the quality of lives of others who have been affected by traumatic injuries. Then, there is the other extreme of those who fall into a deep depression and take on a negative attitude about their condition and circumstances. Things are not so bright for them unless they can somehow rise above this abyss and find a purpose to transcend their difficulties. And in between those two types of individuals are the millions of people who are coping with recovering from trauma and how the events of living life affects their quality of life and their belief system.

The overwhelming question to so many of us is why is there so much suffering on this Earth. It reminds me of a quote, "God gives us problems to solve and when we are good at it, he gives us some more."

And when you have an open mind and are earnestly and diligently a seeker of truth, as the Buddhist proverb says: "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

Ancient Virtue

The information available that we can learn from is enough to boggle the mind for sure. The journey into truth and truth living is, I believe, a lifelong journey in this adventure we call life on our Earth.

I have been journeying into the minds, hearts, and revelations of inspired and learned authors who have researched volumes of information and have lived into glimpses of very mystical and wonderous events on our earth and beyond. These events range from current events of our modern day times to the discoveries and interpretations of ancient records and anthropological artifacts from all over the world. The philosophies, theories, and inspirations I have studied have ranged from authors of standard self-help books to writers of metaphysical books, healers, paranormal activities and events, quantum physics, religions, historians, doctors and psychologists, shamans, death and dying, musicians, poets, anthropologists, numerologists, scientists, ufologists, etc. as well as authors of current events and political issues today. At first it seems all conflicting and confusing and a hodgepodge of many opposing views that how can anyone of them be right and truthful. And then you begin to notice similarities, common threads, different ways of communicating the same messages, etc., plus the feelings you get and how this information resonates with your soul.

I have learned about The Moses Code and the incredible "knock your socks off" ability that we all have to create miracles, that angels and ascended masters visit us today and that we can call upon their help, guidance and comfort for many many purposes, the power and importance of dreams that reveal insights and information to us, that spirits and ghosts are real entities who many many thousands of people have been encountering here on this earth for thousands of years, that mysterious entities and people appear to some people on the earth at appointed times to reveal information to help us (even in these present days), about energy centers of our chakras and our third eye and how we may learn to open and use these amazing points within us to heal and improve our lives, the zero point field and how we are all connected, the study into dark matter, numerous accounts proving reincarnation and past lives, soul and astral travel, remote viewing, Indigo and crystal children, vibration and sounds, cell and energy healing, miracles and manifesting, that there is much more to our DNA than we hear about on the news, cell memories and a whole new way of viewing our body and all features of the earth from energies rather than just biological functions, the importance of intuition in guiding our lives, the realities of premonitions, the existences of other dimensions and multi-universes, portals to other places and times, the existence of other life in the universe, the unique abilities of some people to be able to communicate with animals on very practical issues, as well as the unique sensitivities of animals to have an awareness of certain impending events such as earthquakes, the amazing life of plants, and what our ego is all about, and the list goes on and on and on.

I have also been awakened to the fact that deceit, manipulation, and falsehoods have been and continue to be a major motivating and real factor in political leadership since ancient times and continue very much today in fueling the belief systems of people to serve the needs of those who feel they need to exercise control over the rest of us. People have been discouraged from learning truths for thousands of years because rulers and leaders of their time needed the people to maintain limited beliefs that allowed these rulers to remain in dominion; and therefore, they taught people that God is judgmental and is to be feared, so the leaders could control the people by fear. Some examples are the destruction of the Alexandrian Library and other valuable writings and books in ancient times including the lost gospels during the time of Jesus. This concept continues to permeate the belief systems today with our present day leaders, and a seeker of the truth is often ridiculed or ignored. People ranging from scientists, educators, doctors, military officers, and inventors are, today, being prevented from disclosing truths they have learned for fear of losing their reputations, jobs, etc.

It is up to each person of free will to be a seeker of truth. Each of us on this Earth has free will and the obligation and privilege to search through the clues from the loving sources that present themselves to us and make fascinating discoveries into who we are and why we are here and the purpose to our own lives.

I discovered our spiritual self is very real indeed, and is so much more than I could ever have imagined. I have had to make the leap from the fearful God I was brought up to worship who required that I pray and follow certain religious ceremonies, etc. in anticipation of a stern judgment day to the God who is LOVE. Even though I still have but touched the surface, I know that God's Love does pass all understanding. My deep and profound yearning to understand these things has found a home, and that home is inside of me. That home is reached through the stillness of meditation, and as best I can through living a life of love, peace, harmony, and kindness. I am constantly seeking and learning new information that awakens, enlightens, and leads me to new places of understanding who we are, why we are here and our purpose in life.

I have learned that there are many ways to access truths and understanding of the mysteries of life. Indeed, the process is a very personal one that comes to us from many sources. It is not necessary that we learn it all, because that would be impossible during one lifetime.

My heart has opened to understand at some level certain concepts that once were unreachable to my ability to comprehend. And I continue to reach for even greater revelations of who people are and how these truths will dramatically and unequivacably affect each and every one of us, our beloved Earth and all things who live upon it, as well as the ever expanding universe, and eternity.

I have learned that each and every one of us does indeed have a very real part in the status of our beautiful Earth, including all the relationships and issues upon it, and the part we all have in creating our circumstances. I have learned that we do each have a unique purpose in life, and those who

Coming to the awareness and realization that the many of the belief systems I grew up with are sadly lacking in truth and that awareness has profoundly changed my life. My hope is that more and more people, who are uncomfortable and uncertain of their beliefs, would take the time to really examine their long held beliefs against the enormous amount of historic, scientific, and spiritual information that is readily available to us today.

Bring those beliefs out into the light of day. Ask lots of questions. If the beliefs are able to stand up and remain believable against all the new evidence and information that is now accessible, it is a beautiful thing. However, if you find that the beliefs you have long held to be true do not resonate with new truths you have learned, it may be time to reconsider.

There is much peace of mind and self understanding to be gained that just may put a whole new spin on how you view your life.
