Nesting Hummingbird

It is so awesome to experience the entire incubation and brooding cycle of baby hummingbirds. I warn you, though, it is very addictive. Some days I can hardly pull myself away from the hummingbird cam. Enjoy!

Yes, I did. I learned there is much I don't know about these little birds. The photos were lovely. Squid Angel Blessed.
  • Graceonline Mar 24, 2012 @ 3:19 pm | delete
I did, and thank you! If I got it right, the hummingbird's heartbeat and respiration calculate out to 21 beats and 4 breaths per second. Astonishing! I feel exhausted just thinking about it. And it makes me wonder how different their sense of space and time must be than for the rest of Earth's more pedestrian creatures, like us.

And what an amazing capture with the bee plant. You must have a fabulous camera, as well as an amazing eye and steady hand.

You may be interested to know that the birds you see in Israel are actually sunbirds - they are similar to hummingbirds, but are not closely related. Maybe you could write a Squidoo lens about them!
