The Right Attitude
-Isaiah 1:19-20
Dear Friends and fellow Squids,
Life today is very complicated that's why, it is very, very important that we constantly have the right attitude, most especially the attitude of appreciation. Many of us find it easy to look at our negative conditions and want to blabber and complain endlessly about how tough and hard life is today. God our Father in Heaven has promised that when we have the right attitude, we can tackle all kinds of hardships in life and be victorious in the end no matter what the odds are. It is up to us if we want to live in victory or in defeat. The result for either equation depends upon the attitude that we have in any particular situation. Therefore, I encourage you all to have a positive, uplifting and victorious approach to every situation you're going to face each day. Never allow the enemy or the challenges to discourage your heart and soul. Start each new day giving praises to God and thanking Him for even for victories which still are about to be won. Look beyond the horizon and you will see a silver lining behind those dark clouds.
"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
-Psalm 118:24
In this lens, you will find some stories that show you how attitude has nothing to do with your comfort level. Here, you will see why attitude is better than skills. Here, you will realize that to go through life and end up victorious, you only need 15% skills and 85% attitude. Why, even the word "ATTITUDE" suggests 100% of its own characteristics. You don't believe it? Add all the ordinal number of the letters in the word "ATTITUDE":
A - 1
T - 20
T - 20
I - 9
T - 20
U - 21
D - 4
E - 5
------------
100 % !!!!!
Now, you believe. Anyway, the choice is within us. We seal our fate with the choices we make. Why is it that there are other people who are successful while there are others who fail? The answer is simply "ATTITUDE".
I hope some of these stories can inspire you or motivate you because it sure inspired and motivated me! Once again, your fate is in your hands.
If you throw a pebble at the middle of the pond, do the ripples come from the inside out or from the outside in? Even if you're surrounded with negative things, don't let it bother you. If you want change, it has to come from the inside and as always, have trust in God:
"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
"So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
-Hebrews 13:5-6
A little boy once asked his grandpa if the bird he is holding in his hand is alive or dead and his grandpa said that it depends on him. If he will say that the bird is alive, the boy might crushed it to death with his hands. On the other hand, if his grandpa will say it's dead, he will release it and let it fly....
That's how it is in life, too. As what I've said earlier, your fate is in your hands and not from other people's hands.

The Right Attitude Will Push You Through Life
The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud mother-in-law of my best friend, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.Maurine Jones is the most lovely, gracious, dignified woman that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. While I have never aspired to attain her depth of wisdom, I do pray that I will learn from her vast experience.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.
"I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. "Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room...just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged...it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it..."
She went on to say, "It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away...just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account...you withdraw from what you've put in...So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories, so when you go over it a second time, you can enjoy it again."

The Story of Lumberjacks
Attitude Really Dominate Over Skills
Somewhere in the hilly forest of Canada, a group of lumberjacks are getting ready to start a new timber-chopping day. Among the lumberjacks was a 60-year-old veteran and a 19-year-old newbie. It was always the talk of the town that this old man was the best. Now, the much-eager youngster was intrigued by this and he wonders if the old man is as better than him. You can't blame him. He has muscles that are strong as those of a giant. Not able to withstand the urge for a little competition, he asks the old man if they can have a little contest and see who can shop more trees in a given period of time. Naturally, everybody raised their eyebrows. However, the old man readily agreed. So, they got their axes ready and at the sound of the starting gun, they went to work. Now, this young man is very much intrigued with what the old man can do. He always look over his shoulder to the old man every 10 minutes and every time he does that, he can see the old man sitting on a log with his back turned.
He smiled and said to himself, "If he does that all the time, he will surely lose."
After an hour of chopping down trees, the arbiter signaled for them to stop and proceeded to count the number of trees chopped by the two competitors and you know who won? The old man!
Can't believe what has transpired, the young man approached the veteran and asked him, "Sir, I acknowledged my defeat but I'm just curious on how did you ever manage to cut down more trees than I did? Why, every time I turned and looked at you, you're sitting on that log but how come you still won?"
The old man replied, "Son, I was not just sitting on that log. What you don't know is while I'm sitting, I'm sharpening my axe. How about you? Did you ever stop to sharpen yours?"
You see, my friends, you might have the skills and the power to do something but if you don't put a little attitude to it, you will surely lose the game of life. The old man in the story has the attitude to sharpen his ax and that made him victorious.
The Little Frog Who Would Not Give In To Negative Things
...if you're going to be like this frog, you will surely succeed in life...
In a dried-up pond during the summer season, there is a group of frogs inside that pond. Because the water level is too low during this time of year, they can't get out from that pond no matter how high they'll jump. Time and time again, one of them would try to jump out but they can't succeed and eventually, would quit. So, they decided to might as well stay there in the shallow water and even though the pond is full of water, they can't still get out. Now, a little frog was very curious what was beyond the pond and he wants to discover it. So, as what he had seen from other older frogs, he decided to try his way to jump out of the pond.
The elders just stared at him while he keep on leaping and jumping.
One frog shouted, "Hey you, small fry! So, you think you can jump out of this pond. Stop what you're doing or you'll just tire yourself!"
Another one shouted, "That's right. No frog from this pond has been able to jump higher ever since the water level has decreased dramatically. Stop that nonsense, little one!"
Everybody laughed and made some comments on the little frog but he just didn't paid any attention to them. He just keeps on jumping and leaping and in the back of his mind, he thought, "I'm going to make it. I really love to see what's on the other side, beyond this pond."
So, he tried and tried all day, all through the night and suddenly, before the crack of dawn, he DID jumped right out of the pond and every frog just stared in bewilderment and amazement! They called up to him at the top of their lungs.
"Hey, little frog, please! Tell us what did you do? We also want to get out of here and see the world! Please, come back and tell us!"
But the little frog just ignore them and no matter how hard they shouted, he can't hear them and you know why? That little frog is deaf!
My friends, if you want to be successful in life, you need to be like the frog- deaf to all negative comments. He just concentrated on what he wants and he got it successfully!
Oh...one more word....
G.L.A.D.
To be successful in life and to be a blessing to others and to receive a lot of blessings, you have to be G.L.A.D. Yes, that's right, it's the word GLAD but it is also an acronym for Good Learning Attitude...I don't know what "D" stands for but in my experiences in life, I want "D" to be Determination. So, it's Good Learning Attitude with Determination. You have to be glad! You have to always wear a SMILE!
If you always wear a SMILE, always be GLAD, open to many things, blessings will come your way. People are comfortable to be with smiley people rather than grumpy ones, right?
Now, wear a smile and when you see someone who looks grumpy, here's what you'll do:
Stand next beside that grumpy person and when the heavens open up the clouds and send all the blessing to rain down upon you, your smiling upward face will catch all the blessings and for the grumpy one? All the blessings will slide down from his reclining "unsmiling" face and it will splash right to you!!! LOL!!! So SMILE, be GLAD and the whole world smiles with you!

- Like you I believe that attitude has a paramount importance for a successful and complete life. It is a pity that school teaches skills, but not enough positive attitudes. Excellent lens, 5*.

- Hi,
Amazing lens, I've bookmarked it and rated it 5*. I like your references to Scripture; the Bible is one of the original self-help books so there's no better source to reference when it comes to improving one's life.
