Are you a Spaetzle Lover? Hungarian or Otherwise?
Do you love LITTLE dumplings i.e. Hungarian Spaetzle???
From the lens Hungarian Spaetzle : Little Dumplings.
My grandmother made the best "Hungarian" Spaetzle; however, she called it dumplings. The word dumplings can mean a lot of different things. I'm glad I figured out that I want little dumplings or Spaetzle. How about you? Do you love it? Can you make it?

- Guess what? I made today Hungarian Spaetzle with chicken, they are delicious, I like it a little more spicy but Mom doesn't eat spicy, so milder is good as well...
Thanks for a easy to make recipe...

- I've made these twice when we were making Hungarian food. We loved them so much that I even purchased a special spaetzle maker kitchen gadget (kind of like a cheese grater but not sharp). We haven't made any since then. Your lens has inspired me to pull it out and make some more dumplings & chicken paprikash.

- I've been making spaetzle for years but I've never quite gotten the proportions of ingredients right. That is, until I used the recipe above. My spaetzle turned out exactly the way I like them. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe!

- In Switzerland, it's called "Spatzli"...with an umlaut over the "a." I always thought it was derived from the German word for "late"..."spat" (with the umlaut)...because it could be dashed together quickly to fill out a meal when latecomers showed up. Not sure exactly where I heard that; possibly from my folks.

- You know, I never thought of Spaetzle as being Hungarian, and my mom never prepared it, but seeing you and your grandmother making it has me convinced. That and some Chicken Paprikas, please! That's some tasty looking Spaetzle in the bowl, too. Great lens. I like your case study at the bottom too!

- Good Spaetzle is something I miss from my youth. I love Spaetzle, and any time I'm someplace where they serve it...seconds are a must! Being of German heritage, I never think of Spaetzle as Hungarian...but I don't care what nationality it is as long as it is on the table! Thanks for this page.

- I absolutely love homemade spaetzle. Although it's quite a bit easier to make it with a potato ricer rather than cutting it up and tossing it into boiling water.

- I love Spaetzle, and I see the Hungarian Spaetzle and German Spaetzle are exactly the same. I did them a few times, but the technique with using a knife and board to cut the batter does not work always so perfect. I am thinking of using a Spaetzle Press next time.
Anyway, did you try mixing the Spaetzle with your Chili Leftover, put some grated cheese on top and put it into the oven until cheese is melted and goldish brown? Awesome!

- One thing to add to the receipe: After combining the ingrediants, roll the dough into a ball and place it under a large soupbowl so it can blend. This time to "rest" makes for a better spaetzle.
