1 in 6 - Did you know that is the number of Americans that will struggle with hunger today?

September is Hunger Action Month and Feeding America is asking all Americans to take action to fight domestic hunger. The need in this country is tremendous - but so is the impact that you can have.

Throughout Hunger Action Month, Feeding America's nationwide network of more than 200 food banks is calling upon communities to take action through the "30 Ways in 30 Days" campaign. Whether it's by advocating and raising awareness, making donations, or giving of your time and energy, find the way that's right for you to make a difference during Hunger Action Month.

Writing this lens is just one of the things that I'm doing to fight hunger in America by raising awareness and passing along the information about how we can ALL help. Feeding America has put together a great calendar that lists a way you can help each day during Hunger Action Month. The calendar is available as a printable PDF and you can integrate it directly with your google calendar as well. The calendar includes ideas such as taking the pledge, volunteering at your local foodshelf, sharing the campaign info on Twitter and Facebook, donating $1 at Macy's Stores, collecting donations for the food shelf and much more.

    I did not know about September Hunger Action Month. Thanks for sharing it. I am helping with hot meals almost daily one homeless little girl and I have no job in the present, but I am sure that God will help me to keep feeding this little girl.

    Why have i not heard of this before? The news can show who's top in Big Brother or what starlet has lost 20 pounds so why not a cause such as this.

    It is great that you are spreading the word that September is Hunger Action Month. Would agree with an earlier comment that it needs to be every month. No child in America should be hungry. Ringing my Squid Angel bell with a blessing.
