Hunter Leveling Guide Introduction
Both in a Hunter leveling guide and in general, the Hunter's function in WoW is damage. Though the class has limited armor and is able to do some limited hand-to-hand damage, as distinguished from the other ranged damage dealers in WoW, melee is not its primary function. What distinguishes the Hunter is that this damage is almost exclusively from ranged weapons and a pet.
Along with the Rogue and the Warlock, the Hunter is considered among the potentially fastest leveling classes in WoW.
Hunter talents are grouped into three areas:
Like any other class, a minimally damaged, living Hunter simply earns more gold and levels faster.

The solo hunter's one challenge is simple: keep the pet alive. From this one principal everything else follows for fast hunter leveling: avoid melee, don't grind, and quest efficiently.Hunter talents are grouped into three areas:
- Beast Mastery: Maximum damage from pet. Pet survivability also at its highest.
- Marksmanship: High instant damage from ranged weapons.
- Survival: Damage over time ("DoT") abilities and improved traps.
Like any other class, a minimally damaged, living Hunter simply earns more gold and levels faster.
Hunter Leveling Guide Talent Build
Beast Mastery
Beast Mastery 37 / Marksmanship 4 / Survival 0Some Notes:
- This "Beast Mastery" talent build helps the pet retain threat better, however...
- You need to constantly watch that threat. Remember: avoid melee. You do not want enemies peeling off of your pet to come after you.
- A Hunter will only level as fast as the Strength and Stamina attributes of the pet allows. Watch your pet's health.
- With or without a pet, always maintain distance from yourself and your target. "Kiting" (inflicting damage from a distance while the enemy's motion is impaired) is an essential skill for all ranged damage dealers. Remember that Hunter melee is only a final panic button.
- Melee is your last line of defense. Don't ignore your melee skills.

Hunter Leveling Guide Strategy
Solo Questing

- With a pet and strong survival skills, the Hunter can be the most self-sufficient, solo class in WoW.
- Though they can melee Hunters should avoid it, especially when the goal is leveling fast. Hunters have abilities that help them keep away from having to melee.
- Developing a feel for which fights can be won by enduring through melee is part of the WoW Hunter learning process. Keep your melee skill up to date.
- Level your First Aid. Not only will it keep your down time low and therefore your leveling fast, it becomes useful when your pet regains the attention of a target after having lost it. You can bandage up, repairing damage incurred, while your pet continues the fight.
- The Tenacity group of pets provide the best pets for the "Beast Mastery" build. Tenacity pets have the best survivability and hold on to enemy threat well. As you level, choose only from the following pets:
- Bear
- Boar
- Crab
- Crocolisk
- Gorilla
- Rhino
- Scorpid
- Turtle
- Warp Stalker
- Worm
- Bear
- The Bear and the Crocolisk have slightly better "Area of Effect" ("AoE": abilities that effect all enemies within a given area) damage ability and can be the best solo choice.
- Solo questing strategically and efficiently is the fastest way for a Hunter to level. Period.
Hunter Leveling Guide Gear
Agility and Stamina

- Look for gear that affords your most important statistics: Agility and Stamina. Strength and Intellect are secondary. This type of gear will often be rewards for the right Hunter quests.
- Mix and match the following gear as you level:
- "of the Monkey": Agility and Stamina
- "of the Gorilla": Strength and Intellect
- "of the Monkey": Agility and Stamina
- The "Beast Mastery" build is less gear dependent than other builds. "Careful Aim", for example, improves your attributes. Nevertheless, you should not ignore your gear.
- Once you're able to wear mail armor, don't discard your leather gear all at once. Gradually move into mail, storing pieces if necessary until you have a full set. You don't want a sudden drop in Agility and Stamina.
- Always play with the highest damage ranged weapon that you have.
- You'll be leveling too fast to waste gold or play time on gems or enchantments. Save the gear fiddling for maximum level.
- Don't emphasize (but don't ignore) melee weapons. Keep an eye out for good melee weapons, preferably awarded to you with some gold from the right quests.
