Deer Hunting Made Successful
Yes I am a mechanic but my hobbies are hunting deer and fishing. This lens will help me talk about what I love and there fore can be considered therapy for me. Writing about the sports is the next best thing to actually doing them.
I am not alone, many americans have a favorite hunting pastime and it's deer hunting. Deer have been able to survive because they've learned to avoid predators.
This is accomplished by using their sense of smell, sight and hearing. Their evolution has made them accustomed to hearing two types of sounds, which include both the natural and unnatural. The natural sounds are part of their element, but it's the unnatural sounds such as leaves being crushed, or the sound of metal brushing up against something that alerts them to possible danger.
If the season has arrived, then understanding the rules of engagement is imperative to successfully hunting your game.
Mimicking that will attract deer, such as a fawn in distress, a fawn bleat, doe or buck grunt, are great ways of getting their attention and drawing them to your location. Additionally, making a rattling noise mimics the sound of two bucks locked in combat. Be sure to rattle with a bit of enthusiasm, and a few grunts will help to make it sound authentic.

Target Hunting
The Ruger SR9

My latest purchase is not so much for hunting deer but it will be coming with me on my next outing. The Ruger SR9 has had mixed reviews on the many gun forums I have visited. But the after holding the gun I was hooked.
It has a reversible back stop and the spur less hammer. But my favorite part of the SR9 is the capacity of it. The 17 plus 1 gives you 18 rounds of fire power in the palm of your hand. Also the magazine is a double stack configuration so the large capacity does not effect the dimensions of the handle.
Note that the SR9 now has a trigger safety somewhat like the Glock. This is in addition to the regular firing pin safety. This was a fix for a recall. The older model ruger sr9 was said to go off if dropped. The additional trigger safety fixes this problem.

helpful tips for hunting deer
The sense of smell of a whitetail deer is far superior to that of the hunter. They have the ability to smell where you've walked. This means you have to control your natural body odor by "playing the wind." Your location won't be compromised if the wind is blowing your scent towards an unproductive area.Other precautions should include washing hunting clothes and apparel in non-scented laundry detergent, and allowing them to dry outside. Having engaged in deer hunting on several occasions, you should well know that the scent of your hair and body will be the biggest give-away. You should take care to wash with an earth scented or non-scented application.
It's commonly thought that deer have a poor sense of sight. While it's not their sharpest sense, many hunters give away their positions by allowing themselves to be seen. If you can fool their sense of sight, smell and hearing, then you're well on you way to becoming a successful deer hunter. The key is to remain unseen and keep whatever you need within easy reach when hunting game.
When you're moving within range of your prey, this means you've arrived at your destination undetected by the deer. Hunting is an art. Your close proximity means you've positioned yourself away from the wind and you've been quiet enough to approach without startling your prey. You may have even attracted the deer by using realistic grunts and calls.
There may a moment in which the deer looks up and now the animal's fate is in your hands. Most importantly, deer hunting should be conducted with a degree of reverence for nature and its bounty.
I learn something new every time I go hunting and fishing. Since I have only been hunting deer for about five years I decided to get an E-book on the subject. This was a great book and it took the curve out of learning. Take a visit to the Deer Hunting Secrets Website Click Here!

Hunting Secrets for Whitetail Deer
White tail deer report
If you're ready to put all of your hunting skills to the test, go after a whitetail deer. These animals are a true challenge to hunt and have challenged many hunters. They can smell you, hear you and are constantly on the lookout for danger. Sneaking up on a buck is a real feat, but if you know a few tricks, it can be done.Along with experience, you can use a good number of items and techniques on your hunts. First of all, a deer knows what you smell like. If they catch a whiff of what you've touched, where you've walked or where you are, well, game over! The entire herd will bolt with a warning flick of a white tail.
One way that many hunters disguise themselves from the herds of whitetail deer is to use scent masking sprays. These come in a number of different aromas and none of them smell particularly pleasant. Deer urine is a commonly used one. Staying downwind of the herd is also important because if a deer gets a sniff of your presence, the entire herd will bolt and you'll have to start tracking all over again.
Rattling antlers is another way to get close so you can get a good clean shot. If you have one or more sets of antlers, then once a year, oil them lightly with linseed oil. It will serve a two-fold purpose. The oil will keep the antlers from becoming brittle and it will also give them a solid and "real" sound. The deer will hear you rattling the sets of antlers together and will assume it's a couple of bucks sparring. This technique will enable you to get a lot closer to the herd while masking your presence.
You may get some surprised looks when you say you like to take your turkey or duck call when you're hunting. You may even get asked if you're deer or waterfowl hunting; however it's a smart move. Deer are naturally soothed by the call of the turkey and ducks as the birds are absolutely silent when humans and other dangers are in the vicinity. A random turkey or duck call now and then will soothe the herd as you move in closer to take your shot for a trophy whitetail deer.
Another common mistake many hunters make is in how they proceed if they miss their shot. They move on. The herd may have been spooked by the shot and subsequently bolted from the area. However, in some instances they won't go too far. Stay absolutely still for ten to twenty minutes and you may be able to get another chance to bag your buck.
In the end, you will find that you don't need a lot of equipment to hunt whitetail deer. However, you do need to understand that if the deer smell you, see you or hear you - they will run. Mask your scent and stay downwind, stay hidden and move as little as possible, keep noises to a minimum and you should be able to finally mount those trophy whitetail deer antlers on your wall.

Bow hunting deer
Increase your time in the woods
Improve Your ArcheryWhen it comes to archery and the sport of bow hunting, the adage about something difficult being but well worth it can be a little doubtful. You have come to expect certain discomforts in many sports and activities. A mild case of frostbite while snow skiing, blisters when hiking or running and even sunburn from the beach. You will have to weigh the pros and cons in order to decide for yourself.
Most hunters start hunting with guns, until someone comes along and talks them into trying bow hunting. Many times deer season starts earlier than the more traditional hunting method using guns. That in itself is a big motivation for many hunters, as they will get more hunting time! Another advantage is that it is usually legal to take a doe during archery season. What hunter would not like getting to hunt the woods earlier and possibly take a trophy whitetail deer. They look at it as more time in the woods, more chances to get a deer. Simple really. Or is it?
In many locations, the start of bow hunting season for archery enthusiasts, is in September. This can be considered the equivalent of the dictionary's meaning of masochism. You sit in 90-degree heat, sweating due to the 90% humidity in the air. This is also usually the rainy season so, add a swarm of mosquitoes into the mix and you are good to go.
Another important consideration is to make sure your gear is in tip top condition and make sure everything is as it should be. With bows, you need to check the string for wear and wax it while checking your nock points, etc. Be sure to lube all moving parts, dry graphite lube works well for lubricating moving sights. If you use a bow quiver be sure to check its mount, making sure it is tight and won't vibrate or hum, when you shoot.
So, even with all of the hard work and pain, the main question would seem to be, is it worth it? Most hunters respond that yes it is, normally when they say this it is from a tree stand in the middle of a frost bitten clearing and the sweaty bow-hunting season is still ten months away. What else are they going to say? You might just question their sanity if they went through all of this and then admitted that they didn't really like it.

Trophy whitetail deer
Tips for your next trophy hunting trip
Tips to help you bag that deer from the bonus guide at hunting deer secrets. While their populations are large, deer are still one of the most alternately frustrating and exhilarating game animals to hunt. One thing that makes this animal so difficult to get is two fold. Their sense of smell is so keen and their ability to communicate within the herd rapidly to warn them that danger is near, is razor sharp. It's easy to tell when you've been sniffed out in the literal sense, as they will raise their heads and point their noses in your direction. Whitetail deer will begin flicking their tails to warn the heard, mule deer will toss their heads and the entire herd will jettison out of your range.
Once you've been hunting deer for a while, you'll develop your own bag of tricks to help trail and bag the animal. Many hunters watch for signs, such as where bucks have marked trees waiting for does to mark them in return. Another thing many hunters do as they approach the animal, is to rattle a pair of antlers. If you oil the antlers ever twelve months with a light coating of linseed oil, they will have a sound that is more "alive" and will attract them more easily.
Skill and understanding the psychology of this animal will go a long way towards making a legitimate kill. A mature buck will usually forage in the early morning and then bed down to snooze until the early evening hours when he will rise again. If you can get downwind of a resting buck, when he rises from his bed, you will get a clear shot nearly every time. Another trick you can use when you're hunting is to use your turkey call. They feel comforted by the call of the turkey as the birds are silent when dangers such as hunters are around. A quick noise on your turkey call now and then will leave the herd that you are creeping up on very calm, so you can literally have your pick of among the herd.
Another trick you can use when you're hunting is to let other big game hunters do the work for you. Often hunters that flush out a herd will send them running and if you're across the way - the herd will be coming right at you. A good way to enable this situation to happen is to position yourself across from other hunters in high ground or thick cover. When deer are panicked they will look for an escape route and that is usually higher ground or a thickly overgrown area in which to hide.
Don't be afraid to try something new. If your last few deer hunting forays have turned up dry, consider using a turkey call to get closer to the herd or try using a spray to mask your scent. Get creative and find out what items may work the best and you'll get your dream shot on your next trophy hunting trip.

Hunting and Fishing From My View Point
Hunting and fishing are outdoor recreation sports that many families enjoy participating in together. It's a great way to have a good banter going all day with your kids while you wait for the big one to bite your hook as you sit in the boat or wait in a deer blind for a buck with a wall-worthy rack to come along. Deer hunting is also a way to teach kids about the importance of safety for themselves as well as others when handling firearms. Above all, it's a wonderful way to spend quality time with your kids.
Make time to reconnect with your family. Schedule at least one day a week where the entire family gathers around the dining room table and shares a good meal and conversation. Also use this time to schedule a family trip that includes healthy outdoor recreation that everyone can enjoy including hiking, camping, hunting and fishing. Make time for each other and you will find that your family unit remains strong and connected.

My new Walther P22
About My new Gun
I went to a local gun show recently and found what I think is a good deal. I bought a Walther p22 That shoots long rifle 22 caliper shells. It came in a Hard shell factory case with a tool kit and 2 extra 10 shot clips. The weapon is a lot of fun to shoot and very accurate.
It is also upgradeable with an available laser sight and silencer. I paid 200 bucks and the gun is nearly in 100% or new condition. Another nice thing is the target ammo is very cheep. I love the Walther p22. Leave your feedback at the bottom if you own this gun and have something to say about it.
