Hydrogen Conversion for Your Vehicle
Whether you own a car, truck, SUV, diesel or semi, chances are you've heard a rumor or two about hydrogen conversion.
Questions You May Have:
Does hydrogen conversion work?
Who's using hydrogen conversion?
How much can I save?
And where can I get my hands on the information I need to do it myself?
As you read further down the page, I hope to answer some of your "burning questions" about hydrogen conversion... (um, sorry for the pun)

Do it Yourself Hydrogen Generators Approved
Recently in the news, a police department in South Carolina started implementing hydrogen conversion in their vehicles.

City Government Uses Hydrogen Conversion
The Mayor and Police Department of Honea Path, SC have been investigating hydrogen conversion to see if fuel cell technology was legitimate.
After doing their research and investigating it for a few months, the police Chief reported a 6 to 8 mpg increase by using techniques taught in a popular online guide.

Hydrogen Conversion For Semis
"Big rigs can take as many as six of them. Truckers are the ones who need them. It can cost them $1,500 to fill a diesel tank. The HHO can save them at least a couple of hundred dollars every time they refuel."

Hydrogen Conversion Works to Burn More Completely
- from the Peak Oil Forum
"Hydrogen injection works because it greatly increases the speed of combustion. It has nothing to do with the added energy or BTU's. Because hydrogen ignites easier and burns many times faster than gasoline, when added to the combustion chamber it causes the gasoline to ignite faster and burn completely. Without hydrogen injection gasoline is ignited by the sparkplug about 10 degrees before the beginning of the combustion stroke and is still burning when the piston reaches the bottom of the combustion stroke. The remaining unburnt fuel is then sent through the exhaust to the EGR system to be recycled or to the catalytic converter to be reburnt (wasted). With hydrogen injection the combustion starts much faster, this is why you need to retard your initial timing when using it. When the hydrogen is ignited it burns very fast and in turn ignites the gasoline from all sides at once. The pressure wave created by the combution has a shorter duration pulse and is more energetic because of this faster complete burn. Since the all of the energy is released when the piston is near the top of the combustion stroke more energy is absorbed by the piston and captured as work energy. Less energy is lost as heat in the exhaust. There is no unburnt fuel so EGR systems and catalytic converters are not needed. This is why when adding a hydrogen injection system you notice more power and you need less pedal to get the same results.
The truly sad thing is that JPL and NASA did major studies back in the '70s that revealed this process. This information was available to the EPA, congress and the auto industry but instead we got catalytic converters and laws the prohibit the modification of exhaust or smog systems even if the modification reduces emissions and increases milage. Inovation has been stiffled ever since."

Hydrogen Conversion Hybrids
New Hybrid Cars vs. Hydrogen Conversion Hybrids
With gas prices today going up so fast, many people are trying to find solutions, wondering, how can I get the best mpg? At this point, the best gas mileage cars you can find in America are generally hybrids. Some new hybrid models are worth the added cost in the long run, but as far as real gas savings go, many are not. And some people are using hydrogen conversion instead - to convert their current suv's, trucks, cars and semis into hybrids.
For new models, the best gas mileage cars right now are the Toyota hybrids, Nissan hybrid, Saturn hybrid, and the Ford Escape SUV hybrid. The Toyota Prius gets the best mpg of the bunch, with an average of 48 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway and an estimated yearly fuel cost of $1250. The Saturn Vue Hybrid gets 25 mpg city and 32 hwy, with an annual fuel cost of $2056, according to EPA estimates.
The issue with buying a new car in order to save gas - is that in some respects it doesn't make financial sense! Unless you really want a new car - or want to try and trade-in your gas guzzler entirely, and, of course, you don't mind larger car payments --- then this can be an option.
However, if you own a gas guzzling vehicle and can't sell it for a decent price or you rather like it - because of size, or it fits your needs or whatever, then there is another option thousands of people are using right now to save 30 - 50% and more on fuel, getting the best mpg in their current vehicle - with many folks doubling their gas mileage.
So, before you throw thousands of dollars at a new hybrid to save gas money, maybe you'll want to take a look at your options.
