Why You May Want To Try Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash For Yourself

It amazes me what we are expected to use on a daily basis. From food and personal hygiene to household cleaners and lawn care, the products with dangerous and harmful ingredients are all over the place. Once you know what they are, and what they can do to you, you may find yourself looking for more natural products, too.

I've been looking into natural products as an alternative to what is normally available for most of the past 20 years. While I may not have been able to track down every article I've seen related to the less savory contents of mouthwash over the years, most of the following contains information that has been available for years mixed with newer articles that shed new light, or reinforce older research:

While mouthwashes are generally safe, some can cause side effects in patients who use them. For example, many over-the-counter mouthwashes contain high levels of alcohol that may range from 18 percent to 26 percent. Overuse of these rinses can create a burning sensation in the cheeks, teeth and gums. Additional side effects may appear as the result of use of certain types of prescription-strength mouthwashes.

Mouthwash is a great item to use, but almost 90% of mouthwashes are in fact made with alcohol which is used in killing germs in the mouth that cause plaque and other dental problems. In terms of swallowing mouthwash it's wise not to because there are also other chemicals present in mouthwash such as Cetylpyridinium chloride which is used as an agent to prevent gingivitis and plaque build up. That's just the active ingredient the others are sodium saccharin, which is a sweetener and is the same stuff used in diet sodas and drinks. Glycerin (a natural-occurring sweetener derived from sugar), water, poloxamer 407 (a preservative), and other can't-pronounce-the-name ingredients. This is what is in mouthwash from the 70s to the 2000s since many people didn't really use mouthwash back in the day since it wasn't a huge thing like it is now. Many people aren't aware that the alcohol in mouthwash is also a known carcinogen so that's why it's wise not to swallow this stuff and to supervise children using mouth wash and to follow instructions on the bottle since many children are victims to accidental poisoning due to administering incorrect dosages of mouthwash for a child up to the age of 12.

Dr. William Marcus, believes that a study conducted by Battelle for the National Toxicology Program on the toxicology of fluoride shows that there were dose-related increases in bone cancer in male rats. Dr. Marcus also questions the removal by peer reviewers of cancers at other sites in the rats as well. Especially worrisome to Dr. Marcus is the fact that that levels of fluoride that caused the cancers in the rats were lower than those seen in humans who ingested lower amounts, but for a longer period. These levels are generated because fluoride is accumulated in the body and is not secreted.

Parents with young children are often told that they need to be giving fluoridated water to their children to help combat tooth decay and promote the growth of strong, healthy teeth. The FDA's decision also was spurred by the growing number of cases of dental fluorosis-an unsightly and permanent discoloration of the teeth. The Wall Street Journal reports that 22 percent of American children now have the condition, which occurs in young children under six who have consumed too much fluoride.

As possible side effects are usually found only within the small print on foods containing sorbitol, consumers may be unaware of its laxative effects and fail to recognize a link with their gastrointestinal problems

After lengthy investigations which could not identify why the patients were losing so much weight and had chronic diarrhea and pains, a detailed analysis of eating habits put the problem down to eating too much chewing gum with sorbitol.
