Micro hydro power information
Alternative energy is the only way to go to break our dependence on foreign oil. Micro hydro power is becoming more affordable as time goes by.; I like to try things out small first and build upon the power grid by linking multiple power sources to power everything.
Micro hydro power can be used year round if you live in a warm climate and have constant water flow.
One thing I am always interested in is scalability of the hydro systems. One key to all of my alternative energy sources is the ability to add on, this is a unique situation with Hydro power as you need the water flow.; Hydro power is still a very viable alternative energy source and pricing on micro hydro just keeps coming down
Low flow technology is also getting less expensive. I am also working on a multiple level Hydro Power system, with it I will be able reuse the flow of the water multiple times. I will use the hillside to my advantage, simple techniques like this multiplied will provide free power to my homestead.
We are looking at Micro Hydro Power systems for a very old friend I showed him how it can power a cabins lights and they are in. When you build your Alternative Energy systems always think from the perspective of what you have to power.
For example one Micro Hydro Power system can power x amounts of lights of the Micro Power system can Power, charge my Laptop and charge the batteries at (X) rate. In this way you can build your Micro Hydro Power system to be scalable.

- I know wind energy is different than water energy, but I live in a very rural area and have built a diy wind turbine in my backyard. It's not overly big, but it generates enough power to cut my electric bills in half. Definitely worth it and I have already seen a return on the investment. If you can do it and have the room, go for it.

- I am currently designing a system to provide back up power during times of electrical outages. I have a seasonal creek that flows in the winter. Thanks for the tips.
