Priceless Remedy For Nerve Pains

Hypericum perforatum, also called St. John's Wort, is the gold standard for the homeopathic treatment of shooting nerve pain, particularly resulting from injury or surgery. It has been used for centuries as an herbal medicine and today is used around the world for mental, emotional, and physical problems. Homeopathic Hypericum is safe and effective for all ages, for animals, and is FDA regulated in the United States and recommended by the World Health Organization.

Hypericum perforatum

Hypericum is used for alleviating shooting nerve pains due to accidents, injuries, or surgery. It is particularly helpful for injuries to nerve-rich areas such as the coccyx and fingertips. It provides safe and prompt (although temporary) relief.

Fingers

Hypericum is the best remedy to use for crushing or pinching injuries of the fingers like shutting a finger in a car door, for example.

Keynotes For Hypericum Use

  • Pain along the course of a nerve
  • Pains are worse from applying pressure or cold compresses
  • Pains are shooting upwards along the nerve
  • The injury feels sore, bruised, tearing, sharp, or shooting
  • Injuries to nerve-rich areas
  • The pain may feel "hot"

'St Johns wort' (, or spelling pronunciations in )Random House is the plant species Hypericum perforatum, also known as 'Tipton's Weed or Klamath weed', but, with qualifiers, is used to refer to any species of the genus Hypericum. Therefore, H. perforatum is sometimes called 'Common St John's wort' to differentiate it. The species of Hypericum have been placed by some in the family Hypericaceae, but more recently have been included in the Clusiaceae. Approximately 370 species of the genus Hypericum exist worldwide with a native geographical distribution including temperate and subtropical regions of North America, Europe, Asia Minor, Russia, India, and China.

St. Johns wort is today most widely known as an herbal treatment for depression. A report in the Cochrane Review states,

The available evidence suggests that the hypericum extracts tested in the included trials a) are superior to placebo in patients with major depression; b) are similarly effective as standard antidepressants; and c) have fewer side effects than standard antidepressants. There are two issues which complicate the interpretation of our findings: 1) While the influence of precision on study results in placebo-controlled trials is

less pronounced in this updated version of our review compared to the previous version (Linde 2005a), results from more precise trials still show smaller effects over placebo than less precise trials.

2) Results from German-language countries are considerably more favourable for hypericum than trials from other countries.

What Is Homeopathy?

In a very small nutshell.

The primary law of homeopathy is "similia similibus curentur", or simply put, "like cures like". Substances that can make you ill (or hyper, as in the case of coffee) can also cure you. Coffee is a stimulant, therefore if someone is over-stimulated, administering a homeopathic preparation of coffee will counter-act that.

Think about how hyperactivity is treated in children with ADHD. Do doctors prescribe a sedative to calm them down? No, the ADHD medications, like Ritalin, are STIMULANTS. Yet, these stimulants actually counteract the hyperactivity.

To put it VERY simplistically, I like to explain it like this: A fly lands on your arm and it tickles. The fly has stimulated the nerve endings in your skin. So, what do you do? You scratch it. You apply MORE of the same stimulation which caused the itch in the first place, and the tickling sensation goes away. This is much like the action of homeopathic remedies - taking a substance which causes your symptoms only stronger, will "knock out" the symptoms you were suffering from. It overpowers them, and stimulates your body to mount a defense.

I am a graduate of the The Homeopathy School of Colorado and hold the designation of CHom (Classical Homeopath). While at the school, I had the privelege of training under homeopaths Alastair Gray, DSH, PCH, Judith Reichenberg-Ullman, ND, DHANP, MSW and Robert Ullman, ND, DHANP, and Kim Elia. I also participated as a supervisor in the published proving of Aquilegia vulgaris - the common Columbine.
I have been providing online consultations for 2 years in addition to my regular in-office practice.

I've used Flower Essence Remedies personally and with my children, my pets, and other family members for the past 8 years and with my homeopathic clients for 4 years. I have been heavily influenced Ian Watson's work with using flower essences in tandem with homeopathy

I have received training in Flower Essence Therapy, Western Herbal Medicine, Reflexology, Health Counseling, Holistic Counseling, Nutritional Counseling, Reiki and Crystal Healing, and Eastern Meditation for health issues.

My philosophy is to offer the BEST care available to each client in a complementary way. I believe that everyone should be educated about all available options regarding their health and well-being and to have access to the best of all systems, whether they be traditional or modern, allopathic or holistic. Integrative medicine benefits everyone.

Living on the beautiful plains of eastern Colorado, I share my life with my husband of 14 years, our 4 children, our horses, cats, goats, a dog, and a ferret.

lisadh - I hope you received my e-mail. For everyone else - I generally only recommend Hypericum in the oral form. I just haven't seen enough evidence of it's efficacy for topical application.

Very interesting. My partner has nerve pain from a back injury. Can you include something here to explain how to use hypericum? The product above is obviously an oral med, but are there also topical applications?

Great lens! I have a question for you...my mom have a pinched nerve in her neck from an injury. She is finding that the palm of her hand is itching and has been told it is probably related. Would hypericum be useful for this symptom? 5*
