Hypertufa Planters Are Great For Your Garden

Hypertufa planters are lightweight, strong, weather resistant and very decorative. They are great for succulents as well as any other plants you have in mind.

Hypertufa planters are easy to make too. Hypertufa is a mixture of pure portland cement, peat moss and perlite. All of these products can be obtained at your local building store like Home Depot or Lowes.

My Recipe For Hypertufa

My recipe for hypertufa is not that hard and is probably the same as 90% of the other hypertufa makers out there.

My recipe is as follows:

  • One part pure portland cemement

  • One part peat moss

  • One part perlite

  • That is it for the purchased items. They can be bought at your local home building supply store like Home Depot and Lowes. Wally World has the perlite and peat moss, but no cement.

The tricky part is adding the water. After you have mixed the dry ingrediants together, start to mix in small amounts of water and mix together. Keep adding water until the mixture has a "cottage cheesey" apperance and it can be formed into a ball and will not fall apart.

That is it for the recipe, next I will get into the actualy making the molds and using the hypertufa mixture.
