Hypnosis is a great tool for overcoming fears and phobias.  A rational fear of something dangerous is an essential safety mechanism to keep us from harm but irrational fears can be limiting.  

The person suffering may believe they are the only one with such a fear but actually many fears are quite common.  Often the thought of conforting the fear, or being exposed to eg a snake, can be so frightening that the phobic avoids treatment to remove the fear.

Hypnosis is totally natural and safe

It's common to have questions about hypnosis, especially if you're new to the world of self-development. Here are a few common questions and answers that may help.

- Can anyone be hypnotized?

Absolutely. You don't need a special mindset, or exceptional relaxation abilities. You don't need to be either especially clever or suggestible. You simply need to want to be hypnotized.

- My mind keeps wandering. What should I do?

Just let your mind wander. Even though your conscious mind may be thinking about the world around you, your subconscious will react to the information given. If you want to calm your mind, simply acknowledge any thoughts that come along, and let them go. Don't emotionally attach. And, again, remember... whatever happens is perfect for you at this time.

- Is it okay to fall asleep when listening?

It's best if you manage to stay awake while listening to your hypnosis session. It isn't critical, however you'll find yourself reaping greater results that way. If you find yourself continuously falling asleep, try sitting up during the session.

- Can I use several sessions at the same time?

It's often best to focus on one session at a time. This allows a more targeted approach to changing your mindset. After listening to one session for a week, THEN move onto the next. If you have, say, three sessions, and you wish to listen to each once a day for a week, you may find it takes slightly longer to change your thought patterns.

-- Will I forget everything from the session?

Some people are in such a deep state of relaxation, they don't remember exactly what transpired during the session. Most people however remember much of the session with ease. However it doesn't matter either way... whether you remember or not, that's just fine.

Overcome SOCIAL FEARS 

You no longer need to feel limited in your everyday life by fears which are holding you back from leading a "normal" life and achieving success in your relationships, work, sports etc.
Fear of FAILURE
Whether driven by perfectionism, low tolerance of uncertainty, past experiences or childhood situations, inability to overcome fear of failure can get in the way of a successful and satisfying life.
Fear of REJECTION
Fear of rejection can come from many sources; from being rejected as a child, or feeling abandoned or unloved.

It can come from being repeatedly rejected in other situations, but regardless of the cause, it can create real problems in the 'here and now'.

Fear of rejection can lead to obsessiveness, clinginess or jealousy in relationships.
Fear of CONFRONTATION
Nobody likes confrontation, conflict or disagreement, but for some the fear is much worse than a simple dislike.

This can be due to childhood learning, or previous experiences of confrontation that have had a traumatising effect, making any future conflict (or even the thought of it) laden with anxiety.

Overcoming fear of confrontation and conflict will help you remove the old feelings of fear and allow you to approach the possibility of confrontation in a much calmer and self-controlled way.
Stop PANIC ATTACKS

PERFORMANCE Anxiety

Like anything in life you can learn to be better at being alone without being lonely, so you have the choice whether to be with others or not.

Fear of the TELEPHONE
Do you find yourself avoiding making or taking phone calls? Do you wonder why other people seem so comfortable with it yet whatever you do, it's just uncomfortable for you?

Fear of speaking on the phone impairs your quality of life as it stops you contacting loved ones, blocks work and business opportunities and causes anxiety.

Fear of CHANGE
Fear of change doesn't just hold you back it stops you truly living. We need a sense of safety and security in our lives.

No change = security

Fear of AUTHORITY
Maybe certain authority figures make you feel self-conscious or that you could say the wrong thing and get yourself or others into trouble.

Perhaps authority figures give you a vague sense of distrust or anxiety, making you unable to think clearly.

You may have been taught and conditioned to automatically respect figures in authority but respect can easily cross the threshold into fear. We fear what is powerful.
Fear of Going Crazy
Fear of going mad can be terrifying. Having a sense of control is so important and people everywhere fear 'losing it' and going mad. We all behave irrationally sometimes but when we start to feel overwhelmed it's easy to fear going mad or 'crazy.'
SHYNESS
Not really a phobia but certainly a fear caused by being around people. Shyness is a natural part of growing up, but for many people it doesn't end with their teenage years. Social anxiety can persist into adulthood so that making friends and establishing a social circle is incredibly painful if not impossible.

The heightened emotions of socializing when young simply condition the sufferer to respond to social events with fear, instead of excitement and pleasure.

Overcoming Shyness and Social Anxiety allows the unconscious mind to rehearse social situations whilst relaxed and in control, gently removing the automatic fear response.
STAGE FRIGHT
Not only is stage fright horrible to experience, it is also cruelly frustrating. What you know you can do is tripped up by an overblown fear response. And because the effects of anxiety include difficulty in thinking, problems talking and inhibition of fine motor movements, many elements of performance suffer, such as singing, holding a microphone, playing a musical instrument or even drinking a glass of water.

Common Fears and Phobias 

Many of these phobias are quite common, after caused by conditioning from a family member. They might seem trivial to others but for the person suffering, they can be really limiting.
AGORAPHOBIA - fear of open spaces
Anxiety or panic attacks that occur originally in one place can spread to others until the sufferer finds it hard to be anywhere unless 'escape' is easy. Eventually, you feel safe only at home. The brain's survival emergency system gets 'hyper aroused' and starts to respond to almost any situation with anxiety or panic attacks.

Overcoming Agoraphobia retrains the brain to understand that these situations are actually safe and there is no need to feel anxious.

Detraumatisation and relaxation is what is required. Hypnosis is so effective because it keeps the mind calm and relaxed while reviewing the difficult situations or experiences, so teaching the mind to respond differently.
Fear of FLYING
Your rational mind tells you that flying is a safe form of transport but the sweaty palms in turbulence coupled with the anxiety around odd noises and movement, mean that a fear of flying can make air travel very unpleasant indeed.

Fear of HEIGHTS

Fear of WATER

Fear of the DARK
Despite the adult knowledge that 'there is nothing there', the fear is stronger and overrides logic.

CLAUSTROPHOBIA
The fear of enclosed spaces can be a terribly debilitating condition, even in a large space.

I doubt whether there are many people who actually enjoy medical treatment but some of these fears can be so overpowering that the person avoids medical treatment he or she needs.
Fear of NEEDLES
A fear of needles can be a problem because you want to give blood, have to have injections for health reasons, or need travel innoculations.

Many people with a fear of needles find that they become faint when getting an injection, or even pass out completely. The needle phobia taps into the brain's natural defence mechanism against blood loss, which will lower your blood pressure - causing faintness.

Happily, hypnosis can remove this unconscious response quickly and comfortably. You will notice immediately that even thinking about an injection is easier and you will be amazed how much more relaxed you are. (We can't promise you will actually like injections though!) Being uncomfortable around needles is normal - needle phobia can be cured.
Fear of DENTISTS

Some women want children but have avoided becoming pregnant because of the fear of morning sickness!

It is a common fear and once the association between fear and vomiting is hypnotically changed you will be able to relax with the idea of being sick.
Fear of OTHERS VOMITING
People avoid hospital dramas on TV just in case a character vomited. Some wouldn't fly because someone on the plane might vomit. And as for sailing or fair ground rides - forget it!

Of course no one enjoys the sight, smell or sound of someone vomiting but a full scale fear response is still totally unwarranted. We can replace fear with normal levels of displeasure coupled with calm and sympathy.
Fear of HEART ATTACKS
Fear of a first or repeated heart attack can plague your every waking moment. Every twinge or discomfort is monitored and seen as evidence of an impeNding cardiac arrest. Racing of the heart may be seen as an impending heart attack rather than just a natural stress response. Maybe you limit yourself and stop doing any activity at all.

Hypnosis will soothe heart attack fears allowing you to feel confidence in your own body again; relaxing hypnosis has been shown to help prevent heart attack and aid recovery from them. Regular relaxation reduces blood pressure and gives your heart a rest.
Fear of MRI SCAN
The prospect of an upcoming MRI scan makes many people nervous.

The best way to keep still during your scan is to relax deeply - there are no side effects to MRI scans so it's actually a perfect opportunity to hypnotically relax. During hypnosis you can be any where you choose - in your mind. In your mind you can always have enough space around you, just as when you dream and 'travel' beyond the confines of your bed. Fear of blood can seriously limit your life. It can be embarrassing to admit the problem and cause real anxiety when faced with bleeding. Not only does if exclude you from many career options, but it can also leave you ineffectual in even the slightest emergency.

Fear of CONTACT LENSES
Image is crucial in this multi-media world we live in and spectacles have a dated feel about them. Using contact lenses seems the simple solution until you try to fit them. It's difficult not to blink as soon as your finger approaches the eye.

VAGINISIMUS
