Hypnosis Works
Hypnosis has been used for centuries to treat numerous physical as well as psychological problems. There's no doubt that its use has help a multitude of people overcome problems that they would not otherwise have conquered.
This lens is designed to feature some of the many health benefits hypnosis can bring.
Hypnosis has been tried and tested over the centuries and when used correctly, hypnosis works!
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a completely natural phenomenon. It is best described as "a state of relaxation and concentration combined with heightened awareness".
Hypnosis therefore is really just a deep natural state of physical relaxation combined with a relaxed but focused mind. The hypnotic state can be entered by almost anyone if they choose to. No one can be forced into hypnosis, despite what stage performers might want you to believe. It has to be completely voluntary, meaning you have to have agreed to enter the state of hypnosis.
In fact, on reflection, all hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. The hypnotist therefore is just an ordinary person who has learned how to assist someone enter the state of hypnosis using vocal or physical relaxation techniques. The "hypnotist" then is really just the catalyst that enables a person to enter the state of hypnosis by relaxing their body, and focusing their mind.
Once a person has entered the state of hypnosis, they will remain completely aware of what is going on around them. In hypnosis, they remain in complete control. This explains why some people believe they can't be "hypnotized". They don't realize when they are in the state of hypnosis because they don't feel any different. While there are several levels of hypnosis, you only need to enter a fairly light state of hypnosis for hypnotherapy to be effective.
This means that a person in hypnosis is fully aware of everything that is going on around them. They can hear the hypnotist's voice and afterwards they can remember everything that was said. They'll feel pleasantly relaxed and lethargic. Their mind may wander off occasionally, just the same as it can when they are listening to a speaker or lecturer drone on about something, but all the time they are hearing the hypnotists voice and will therefore remember everything that was said.
That, in essence is what hypnosis is.

How Can You Lose Weight With Hypnosis?
Excerpt from an Article written by Terry Didcott
It's not really.
I'll endeavour to explain in layman's terms some of the processes that go on when you use hypnosis to lose weight. You will need a few things for that to happen. For instance, first of all, before you enter the hypnotic state, you will mentally set yourself a goal in the amount of weight you want to lose. Then hypnosis itself is used as the tool needed to prepare you to accept the verbal weight loss suggestions.
These suggestions are needed to subtly alter the way you perceive the necessary steps that you must take to lose that weight. Then you will be put in the correct frame of mind to action the steps necessary to lose the amount of weight needed to reach your goal.

There is a further weight loss resource that can be pointed out here that is relevant to this way of thinking. Of course, the link above to the main hypnosis site points to a dedicated page to promote weight loss using hypnosis. An equally relevant resource for losing weight by adopting a whole person attitude and working with only natural methods is the very well documented site: Weight Loss Tips, which focuses on various aspects of losing weight using exercise, natural diet and positive thinking to achieve steady and safe weight reduction without needing to resort to unnatural methods or drugs.
How Good is Hypnosis for Quitting Smoking?
The findings put the success rates of hypnotherapy head and shoulders above all other methods of stopping smoking.
A a professional practitioner of hypnotherapy from 1994 to 2001 in the UK, that came as no surprise to me. I was seeing quite incredible success rates. As high as 75% of everyone who walked through my practice's door walked out a non-smoker - not just for a few days, but I was receiving calls from satisfied customers weeks, months and even years after they had smoked their last cigarette.
So of all the ways of quitting smoking there are - and there are quite a lot of them - hypnotherapy is by far the most successful.
If you are serious about quitting (and I mean serious by way of you really WANT to quit), source a qualified, registered hypnotherapist in your town, book an appointment and throw away your last ever pack of cigarettes.
A good hypnotherapist will offer you a free initial consultation, be able to display their credentials and a current certificate of indemnity insurance and be happy to provide contact details of their professional governing body, which you should check out prior to visiting them.
They should also allow you to bring a trusted friend or relative along to sit in on the session if you still have any doubts.
The best way to find a good and trustworthy hypnotherapist, of course is from a recommendation gotten from someone you trust.
Quitting smoking is not as difficult as everyone seems to imagine, but like cutting out any bad habit, it seems like it's tougher than climbing Mount Everest - but you have to do some of the work yourself in being fully committed to quitting.
If you're not 100% committed to quitting, no power on this earth will make you quit. That's because a t the end of the day, the person quitting is you - and only you can make yourself do that. Remember that and be committed and you will quit. Simple as that.
Now get out there and do it!
Hypnosis and Alternative Cures
21st Feb 2008 - Terry Didcott
Hypnosis itself when used with the correct and relevant suggestions can act as powerful alternative cures for many psychosomatic illnesses.
In fact, when you reason it our, most disease is brought about by a breakdown of the sufferer's natural ability to fight it off. In these cases it can be said that the person who suffers disease actually brought it upon themself by allowing their minds to get into such a state as to negatively effect the body's own immune system.
Often this is involuntary, when outside influences cause a person to become withdrawn, or depressed. then the immune system is suppressed enough to allow disease to infiltrate.
Using hypnotic techniques, relief from the causing depression of the immune system can be brought about, lifting the person's depression and thereby raising the effectiveness of their own body's immune system enabling them to fight off the disease themselves.
There is also the said of hypnosis that in its simplest form allows the body (and mind) to relax completely. This is extremely good for negating stress and the effects that causes on the body as a whole.
One place that regular relaxation really helps is in asthma sufferers. One of the best forms of asthma treatment there is comes from being able to physically relax the body especially at times of stress, which is well known for being the catalyst in a classic asthma attack.
Hypnosis and Confidence
19th March 2008 - Terry Didcott
The simple answer is "Yes, it can!"
The complicated answer is that while hypnosis can be an excellent tool in helping people overcome their shyness and give them more confidence in their day to day lives, it is not a simple case of telling someone who is in hypnosis that they are "now wonderfully confident and that they are afraid of nothing."
That might be a clever trick of the stage hypnotist and it might even take hold in the subconscious of their victim and they may even gain some confidence from it, but this will not last more than a few days and then the poor person is not only back to square one, but will almost certainly be in a position where he or she will have acted out of character for a short while and may have done things that in their normal characters would cause them the greatest embarrassment, which is what they will then have to suffer once it dawns on them that they have acted out of character.
A bad situation made worse.
To truly cure shyness, or lack of confidence requires an experienced hypnotherapist who knows what they are doing!
Simply suggesting the problem away, as often practised by "popular" hypnotists, is rarly effective in the long term. Sure, it can work wonders in the short term and sometimes longer lasting benefits can be brought about, but when the problem of lack of confidence is more deeply rooted, this method rarely works for long.
Where the lack of confidence has a more deeply rooted cause, then, a more effective treatment is to use psychotheraputic methods using hypnosis to augment the effectiveness of this kind of therapy.
Often referred to as hypnoanalysis or hypno-analysis, it takes the best and most effective elements psychoanalysis and adds the magnifying factor of hypnosis to bring about change.

- I nearly went to a hypnotist to help me stop smoking but thought my mind was too strong to be controlled. Now I know a little more about it thanks to you I'm not so sure I'm right. No-matter really as I managed to give up the habit anyway, but certainly food for thought. 5 stars. Clive Anderson.
