What can hypnotherapy help me with?
Hypnosis can help with many issues
Some people may not know the type of issues and ailments hypnotherapy and self hypnosis has been used for. Here are some ideas:-
- Stress - in hypnosis most people feel more relaxed. A great way of dealing with stress is to learn self hypnosis
- Confidence - this is probably the most popular issue that any hypnotherapist deals with.
- Phobias - a phobia (or fear) can be of anything. Planes, bees, buttons, snakes and even public speaking. Many people have used hypnotherapy to resolve their phobia.
- Weight loss - often over-eating is due to emotional hunger and not physical hunger. Hypnosis helps release past emotional hurts and needs
- Relaxation - yep, you don't have to be stressed to seek to be more relaxed. A good hypnosis cd lets you have a more relaxed and calmer disposition more of the time
- Pain - people suffer with pain from arthritis, injuries and post operative discomfort amongst others. Hypnosis mp3s help manage and relieve pain
- Fertility - trying to conceive but no luck so far. Relaxation assisted by positive suggestion may just help promote the right conditions for pregnancy
- Alcohol - there are a number of defined misuses of alcohol which include alcohol abuse, alcohol bingeing and alcohol addiction. Hypnotherapy supports the 12 step AA programme where it has become an addiction
- Public speaking - probably the number one fear is that of having to speak in front of a group of people. Hypnosis helps you to think differently and even to enjoy speaking in public
- Anger management - sometimes anger, which can be an appropriate response, can become a regular and unwanted reaction to frustration. Hypnotherapy helps address unhealthy life habits.
- Relationships - can also benefit from hypnotherapy. Some hypnotherapists specialise with helping people have better relationships whether with colleagues, family, friends or a partner

Choosing A Hypnotherapist
How to find the right hypnotherapist for you and benefit quickly from hypnotherapy

Here is a suggested list of the steps to take to find a hypnotherapist who can provide effective help for your issue and to get the most from the session.
- Check out the hypnotherapist associations - the members of these bodies are bound by a code of conduct and ethics
- Find out if the hypnotherapist has experience of helping with your specific issue - some hypnotherapist's specialise in certain issues - eg natural childbirth
- Chat with the hypnotherapist to gauge whether you sense you will be comfortable with them or take advantage of a free consultation if it is available
- It is not always the case, but sometimes the sex of the hypnotherapist can make a difference to your comfortablility during therapy. Interestingly the most comfortable choice is not always seeing a hypnotherapist of the same sez as you
- Make sure you can commit to the sessions. Don't start hypnotherapy sessions unless you are able to complete the work. If you have any restrictions of this nature let the hypnotherapist know as soon as possible
- Get a friend's recommendation if possible - you will feel more confident and comfortable if the hypnotherapist has already successfully treated someone you know
- Be motivated to change and sense that the hypnotherapist you speak to has that same sense of motivation to want to help you make the changes you desire
- Try to find a local hypnotherapist - you are more likely to attend hypnotherapy sessions if the practice is conveniently located near your work or home
- Be clear about the issue you want help with. Smoke screens only delay the hypnotherapist's ability to help you sooner rather than later
"Still doing the same thing and ending up with the same old result!
Do something different today!"
Hypnotherapy or Conventional Medicine?
Is there a choice?
With serious psychological issues such as depression, mania, bi-polar disorder and other mental disturbances you should always seek the help of a medical practitioner or doctor too.
Hypnotherapy can complement any treatment that orthodox medicine offers however your doctor should always be consulted if you are already under their care.
The issues for which people don't often seek help from their doctor for and can often be helped by hypnotherapy are for issues such as low confidence, low esteem, public speaking nerves, fears and phobias and relationships problems to name a few.
Although life threatening illnesses such as cnacer, heart disease, heart attack and strokes should be treated by medical professionals, hypnosis can play a role with the recovery.
One of the issues that slows down the healing process is stress. Hypnosis and particularly the practice of self hypnosis can help reduce stress and as a result can provide improved conditions for the body to heal.
Just like the idea of the proverb "a stitch in time saves nine", so like any issue we have, dealing with it earlier rather than later is the best course of action.
Indeed, life is for living, and you don't have to suffer in silence when so much help is available. So whether you need medical advice and assitance or a brief therapy such as hypnotherapy why delay you recovery?
New Wikipedia
Hypnotherapy is therapy that is undertaken with a subject in hypnosis.
The word "hypnosis" (from the Greek hypnos, "sleep") is an abbreviation of James Braid's (1843) term "neuro-hypnotism", meaning "sleep of the nervous system".
A person who is hypnotized displays certain unusual characteristics and propensities, compared with a non-hypnotized subject, most notably hyper-suggestibility, which some authorities have considered a sine qua non of hypnosis. For example, Clark L. Hull, probably the first major empirical researcher in the field, wrote,
If a subject after submitting to the hypnotic procedure shows no genuine increase in susceptibility to any suggestions whatever, there seems no point in calling him hypnotised ... (C.L. Hull, Hypnosis & Suggestion, 1933: 392)
Hypnotherapy is often applied in order to modify a subject's behavior, emotional content, and attitudes, as well as a wide range of conditions including dysfunctional habits, anxiety, stress-related illness, pain management, and personal development.

Hypnotherapy and problem solving
Hypnosis can help - are you ready to change?
Admitting to yourself that you have a problem, which you have been unable to tackle alone is a vital step to resolving an issue.
The type of help you seek is the second decision you need to make. Hypnotherapy is proving to be one of the options of modern and successful living.
Hypnotherapy is considered to be a brief therapy as opposed to other forms of therapy which may last for years and even be a as frequent as 2 or 3 times week.
Your issue might be low confidence, stres, weight, smoking, fears, phobias, relationship issues or numerous other blocks to feeling happy and comfortable.
Once you have made up your mind to seek help one of the most effective forms of therapy is hypnotherapy. This lens will help you find a hypnotherapist who is both local to you and can offer effective hypnotherapy sessions to help you sooner rather than later.
Hypnotherapy and Trichotillomania - OCD
How hypnosis helps with hair pulling
One of the least known about issues is the urge to pull out your own hair whether that hair is from your head, eyebrows, nose or other parts of your body. Both men and women can suffer from this urge which is a often subconscious behaviour. Hypnosis is proving to be an effective form of help. Here is an extract from an article on hypnotherapy and hair-pulling...
Diagnosis is on occasion difficult even for trichologists as often admitting this behaviour would add shame to the discomfort felt and may result in the
loss of sympathy. As a London and Midlands based hypnotherapist who specialises in using hypnotherapy and EFT with people who have
trichotillomania, I recently treated a client who's partner believed she had alopecia. When she got up the courage to admit she was pulling out
her own hair the relationship collapsed. This was exceptional it should be noted as most partners have an inkling that something is not quite right
and when told that it is a condition, are usually very supportive.
