Stress is Not a Joke
Stress has a profound effect on your health and wellbeing
Stress is a perfectly natural response to a situation - and our mechanism for surviving. Unfortunately in todays world - stress is 'turned on' too often, and we lack the time and resources necessary to recover. Stress depletes nutrients necessary to run normal functions in the body. Too much stress, and the body begins to deteriorate. Proven Solution Focused Therapy
Hypnotherapy is proven solution-focused therapy - able to create long-lasting transformation in a short period of time.
What is hypnosis?Hypnosis is a naturally occurring 'state of mind' that everyone has experienced many times, whether by accident or on purpose. The current medical definition of hypnosis is: An altered state of consciousness in which the conscious mind is temporarily bypassed, so that the subconscious mind becomes highly receptive to selective, positive suggestions.
Hypnotherapy usually saves time. If an individual is strongly motivated, and the hypnotherapist crafts the suggestions to their specific needs and goals, then results will happen rapidly.
Hypnosis is actually a natural state of mind, so you do not have to 'work' for hypnotherapy to be effective. In fact, the harder you 'try' the longer the process will take. Simply relax, breath, remain passive and LET IT HAPPEN. Simply expect it to happen. let it happen...and it will happen!
Hypnotherapy is a pleasant and enjoyable way to tap into and unlock the potential of your sub-conscious mind.
Clinical Hypnotherapy vs Stage Hypnotism
Myth: When you're under hypnosis, you surrender your free will.
Reality: Hypnosis is actually a heightened state of concentration and focused attention. When you're under hypnosis, you do not lose your personality, your free will or your personal strength. You are always in control and may end the session at any time if you choose. It is important to remember that you are working in partnership with your therapist. The object of this partnership is to help you attain as deep a trance as you need to achieve your goals.
Myth: When you're under hypnosis, the hypnotherapist controls you.
Reality: You could never be made to do anything against your will or contrary to your value system. You do hypnosis voluntarily- completely for yourself, otherwise it simply will not work. A hypnotherapist only serves as a knowledgeable guide or facilitator. You will only act upon suggestions that alter or reinforce an expected behavior, anything else your subconscious will just ignore.
Myth: Under hypnosis, you lose consciousness and have amnesia.
Reality: Most people remember every detail of their hypnosis session.
General Information
Hypnosis allows you to directly access some of your brain's software. If you make positive suggestions for outcomes that are in your best interest, and these match up with your personal values - then you will be successful. However, if you make suggestions that your mind knows to be false, untrue, or violate your current set of values - you will not be successful. In other words, you can input wonderful suggestions to stop smoking, but if you really like smoking and something is of value to you in smoking (for example you think it makes you look like a movie star you admire), then you will continue to be a smoker. So you must be a fully willing participant for hypnosis to work.
Why do hypnosis sessions fail
Hypnosis is a process that involves both the therapist and the individual being hypnotized. It begins with excellent communication about the reason for the session, and realistic goals. [For example, hypnotherapy can greatly aid in test taking anxiety, memory enhancement, etc., however if you wish to score well on exams - you still need to have read the course materials and attended class.] It continues with trust in the process and comfort in the circumstances of the session. It is also a highly individualized process - so if you are listening to tapes designed for some imaginary 'norm' - just anyone off the street - and not customized to you and your particular needs, you are already starting off with a less than effective session. Finally the ability to return and have additional individualized sessions as necessary for your situation is of critical importance.
Why do generalized sessions fail and group sessions are of limited effectiveness
Many people attend group sessions to 'try out' hypnotherapy - and the results are mixed. The key to the effectiveness of any hypnosis session is that it meets your specific and personalized needs. There are certainly times when pre-recorded generalized tapes or group sessions do a very acceptable job - when they were carefully created to touch many general points that are well known to be common to many. However, they simply don't have the ability to serve as well as a very well crafted professional hypnotherapy session. Worse yet, if you experience a 'failure' in a group hypnotherapy session, this can lay a foundation of negativity that must be overcome to have future sessions reach their full and best effect.
How to make your hypnosis session work well
First, you really must want the change that is the focus of the hypnosis session. This may sound silly - but many times an individual is not doing this of his/her own volition, but instead is doing something at the request of a loved one. Hypnosis can not bully you into a change that you do not wish to make - no matter how well intentioned. Second, if you have problems or concerns that are making you tense or apprehensive about the process - this may delay or prevent your entering the relaxed state necessary. If you truly wish the change or action which is the focus of the hypnotherapy session, basically, all you need to do is relax, breath, and let the process work - you will have excellent results.
Second, determine your priorities and focus on a single change at a time. If you wish to stop smoking, lose 60 pounds, and lose your fear of spiders - work on ONLY one major life change at a time.
