Hypnotize Anyone!

Hi everyone,

I was spurred to put this lens together about a subject I started learning about some time ago -- hypnosis.

I know a lot of people are interested in learning how to hypnotize others, and I can report that it really IS possible to do this.

I'm going to share some of the very best techniques I know of below. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Before we get going, you need to check out this site (click on the link).

It breaks down the techniques of one of the most famous of all hypnotists and is THE BEST site I've seen on the topic (and I've seen a bunch!)

How to Hypnotize Anyone

The Basics of Conversational or Covert Hypnosis

Conversational hypnosis or covert hypnosis is a technique through which you can hypnotize people without them being even aware of it.

This may come as a shock, but almost all of us get either hypnotized or hypnotize others on a sub conscious level without even being aware of it.

In fact getting someone to do your bidding, without the person really being aware of it, is one of the most known forms of conversational hypnosis.

See an amazing demonstration of how this is done here!

It was noted psychotherapist and hypnotist Milton Erickson who first broached this theory that left the fraternity dumbstruck.

Erickson takes the credit for defining conversational hypnosis as a formal technique. This was a path breaking and a unique feat in those times, when the general perception was that trance was a rare occurrence.

Erickson broke down the popular belief and formally established that trance, was a rather common occurrence. In fact he went to the extent of saying that people slip into modes of trance several times a day.

Here's how it works...

A Simple Start for Conversational Hypnosis

You experience a state of trance when you are deeply focused on your work.

A state of trance can also be experienced when you have nothing much on hand to do and you are just about meandering with boredom.

You can imagine the amount of interest Erickson's theory generated when he expounded that you could actually lure a subject into a state of trance in course of conversation.

The first and the most important step in conversational hypnosis, is to win over the confidence of the subject and trigger a healthy rapport with him or her.

The Simplest Way to Start Hypnotizing Someone is...

One of the simplest ways of doing this is to agree with whatever the subject has to say.

Let's say for example the subject is disillusioned and keeps saying that 'the nation is heading for doom', assure the subject that 'yes, it is'.

(Note: This is a simplistic explanation. For the full story, click here.

This will make the subject feel that you are on his side and that you empathize with what he is saying.

The next step is to slightly trigger confusion in the minds of the subject, by giving a small tweak to your concurrence of his statement.

For example if he were to say, 'The town is doomed.' Your reaction ought to be, 'Oh yes. That it is, but what if XYZ were to happen? Would you say the same thing then?'

By doing this you would have slipped the Trojan horse into the subject's head. You have confused him even though you are in agreement with him. And you have done it without confrontation.

In the next and the final stage you slip in your suggestion. This is where you get the subject to toe your line, without the subject realizing it.

Famous celebrities who practice covert hypnosis

Well known British magician, psychological illusionist Derren Brown is one of the most prolific proponents of conversational hypnotism today and has used this technique on hundreds of atheists, and has proven that he can convert them into believers using this technique.

One thing that needs to be kept at the forefront of your mind is that the chances of this technique failing are high for whatever the reason, when conversation between the conversational hypnotist and the subject has not been able to last for an extended period.
