Thank you so much for making this lens. I love Capture The Castle - I first read it when I was 17, and it is definitely one of my favourite books of all time. It's surprising then that I actually had no idea that a film had been made of it! I watched the trailer and it looks really good, so I shall have to watch the film at some point.

Thanks for such a lovely comment, Melissa. I'm sure you'll love the film too, it does the novel justice and features some excellent actors.

Book only! Like you, I read it when I was young. I've visited this page before -- just stopped back in to lensroll to "The Little Brown Book of Miss Emily". (I'm browsing classic young adult works this morning.)

Came over from the beach to support your lens. Sounds like a chick story to me, but I love your enthusiasm and that by itself is enough to cause me to have a look.
  • WordCustard Jan 21, 2010 @ 3:01 am | delete
Yes, I would have to agree that this great read is one for the girls (and women) but love the fact that you called by here. Much appreciated.

I read the book when I was very young, but not so young as when I read The Hundred and One Dalmations, the book that really imprinted Dodie Smith's name upon me.
This is a very well done 'Squid Lit'.
  • WordCustard Dec 29, 2009 @ 9:43 am | delete
Thank you very much, Karen. She was a wonderful storyteller.

I haven't heard of this novel but I did a short research and found the French title. This is a book that I'll surely read when I'll have some time (after having read the two biographies that are waiting for me already, lol). Seems interesting and well, includes some indispensable components for me to read a book that is not a biography, memoires, Agatha Christie, Martha Grimes or Joseph Conolly: England, castle...
This is a great review and a great job!
    Dom.
  • WordCustard Dec 27, 2009 @ 3:25 am | delete
I hope you get hold of a copy, Dom. It is such an engaging read... Thanks for the visit. :-)
