I Don't Know How She Does It Soundtrack

Perhaps the I Don't Know How She Does It Soundtrack should be called "Songs For Working Moms to Chillax", "Music to Drink With My Glass of Chardonnay" or "Soundtrack for Date Night". Adapted from a bestselling novel by Allison Pearson, originally subtitled "A Comedy about Failure, a Tragedy about Success", it's kind of ironic that on a movie about the travails of working women, the soundtrack's original composer, a woman was replaced by a man.

Both the songs and the Aaron Zigman score are available on two separate I Don't Know How She Does It Soundtrack releases. Both CDs will be released November 1, 2011 while the digital download of the movie's music is available to download as individual songs or as an album.

13 songs are included on the movie Soundtrack to I Don't Know How She Does It including songs by Betty Everett, Damato, Little Jackie, Teena Marie, Don Covay, Koko Taylor, Bill Withers, WIlliam Kimball, Nat King Cole, Holly Palmer, Little Jackie with a track of Mrs. Matthew Broderick a sentimental Doris Day classic "A Bushel and a Peck" with a single song from the score by Aaron Zigman.

The Soundtrack Score to I Don't Know How She Does It was composed by Aaron Zigman who replaced One Day score composer Rachel Portman. No doubt the movie's director Douglas McGrath was probably disappointed having previously worked with Portman on the soundtrack to Emma. In short order, Zigman produced 28 music cues for the original motion picture score which will be released on a separate album.

Duffy's "Mercy" kicks off the I Don't Know How She Does It Soundtrack to the movie trailer while the second song on the commercial for the Sarah Jessica Parker film is "A Woman's Gonna Try" by Sabrina Starke.

I was reading in a recent New Yorker article by comedy writer/actress Mindy Kahling (The Office) who laments the dearth of good romantic comedies these days but that she admits to even appreciating poorly written ones just for the thrill of seeing people fall in love. Audiences and critics seem split on this movie. Many critics panned SATC2 but I just enjoyed it for all its froth and fun. So just to see Sarah Jessica Parker with handsome co-stars Greg Kinnear and Pierce Brosnan should still be worth a peek, even at the very least to watch on DVD when it gets released...after the kids have gone to sleep.
