Albuquerque - what a terrific place!
The nearby Sandia Mountains are beautiful and the Sandia Peak Tramway has gorgeous views of Albuquerque and the mountains. There are mountain bike trails to enjoy in the Sandia Mountains, too, and in the winter lots of skiing is available nearby. You can enjoy a hike along the Rio Grande or visit historic Old Town.
Albuquerque has many museums and events (music festivals, art and craft festival, Native American events and more) where you can see and learn about the history of Albuquerque and the many peoples who have made the city what it is today. Nearby are petroglyphs and within a reasonable drive there are fascinating ancient ruins from earlier settlements and civilizations.
Albuquerque is truly a multicultural city. In fact, Albuquerque is one of the most culturally varied places in the country. The architecture and art you see in Albuquerque reflect the great diversityl of the many different ethnic groups represented in this vibrant city.

BALLOON FIESTA
Lots of people are arriving in Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta that begins October 1. There will be several mass ascensions and lots of opportunities for balloon rides! I hope to have some photos to share. Unfortunately, it's going to be very windy and rainy for the next several days - not the best start for ballooning! Things to Do in and around Albuquerque

Convergence 2010
Convergence 2010 is being held in Albuquerque this month. Convergence is a weaver's and fiber artist's dream event: lots of vendors, plus a long list of classes on many topics, all taught by recognized experts in fiber arts. In addition to what's been mentioned already, there are other topics of interest to artists such as getting into a gallery, using weaving software or photo-editing software, or basket weaving.Special events include studio tours to visit local artists and suppliers, sightseeing tours to local attractions, among other opportunites. The weeklong event has wide ranging attendance from all over the world. In addition to the conference and classes, there are many associated traveling exhibitions and other events that have been going on in the last several months. There's also a design challenge that features three teams of professional designers. Their challenge is to create garments for the "Walk in Beauty" fashion show at Convergence 2010.
