Loads of Lists on Lucille Ball
Everybody loves Lucy. You hear it all the time.
Even my pre-verbal child would laugh uproariously at "I Love Lucy" re-runs on Nickelodian. (I saw it as it happened.)
Lucy's slapstick was so great that even an infant could see the humor.
Most folks still know who Lucille Ball was from TV, but not much about the rest of her career. I hope the lists you'll find here will have you loving Lucy even more than ever.
Lucy could fill a hundred lists, and virtually does. I won't make you grope through 100 's. I put a few key ones here.
I took that same child who loved Lucy as an infant, at her request around age 8, to the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center an adorable museum In Jamestown, NY.
Jamestown is a wonderful little city in the south western most part of of New York Sate. You would pass it on the way from Buffalo to Cleveland.
The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz center is in Lucy's home town, Jamestown. At the museum you can see and learn all kinds of great things about Lucy. There are some red wigs at the museum that seem to weigh in on the red-head, "real or natural," debate about Lucy.
It became a running gag in the original TV series. For a set of clips about her "red hair," click here. But pop back!
If you go to the museum, you will see her shoes, purses, clothing, and even the famed flammable hula skirt. I'll even help you find your way there.
My favorite trivia tidbit I learned at the museum came from watching the films of her then living Jamestown growing up girl friends.
Up in years, you could tell that Lucy and the once-girls were a Yaya Sisterhood of sorts, a fun bunch. Lucy's TV maiden name came from her early life in Jamestown with these women, and she never forgot them.
You see, in high school this band of fun-loving girlfriends had referred to themselves as "The McGillicuddy Sisters." Remember the character, Mrs. McGillicuddy, Lucy's mother? What was Lucy's maiden name?
On the TV show, Enrique Alberto Fernando Ricardo y de Acha III (Ricky Ricardo) had married Lucille Esmeralda McGillicuddy (Lucy Ricardo). Ricky's mother appeared as well.
Lucille Ball married Desi Arnaz in real life. The real little Ricky and Lucy have carried on mom and dad's tribute. They were instrumental in the establishment of the museum in Jamestown.
Surely, they still love Lucy most.
Learn bunches about Lucy, learn more from the museum, see her in action, and laugh out loud at things you've seen before. That's a huge part of why I love Lucy.
The jokes are everywhere. Lucy just never fails to make you laugh again and again.
photo: I snapped this photo from the official museum book, "For the Love of Lucy; the complete Guide for collectors and Fan's, by Ric Wyman. The other photos, not otherwise credited, are also pictures from this very best, most complete Lucy book ever.
Oh, Lucy!
Ricky Loves Lucy in Song Short List
Great scenes from the original "I Love Lucy" TV show. Desi sings loving Lucy songs.
Lucy's mime was so good, she could work without words
This will help you see why that infant of mine got the jokes. Gale Gordon , who would appear in the later series, makes an early appearance with Lucy. She never speaks, but tells us the whole story.

- I haven't seen any of these for years. Fantastic! I loved the Lucy impersonators heading to a competition in the movie Rat Race. There's even a deleted scene of them on the DVD. Too funny!
