I love to cross stitch!
My online business involves a lot of knitting, but I discovered a love for cross stitching after visiting the Betsy Ross house in Philadelphia and I bought a cross stitch sampler to do. Its so neat to watch the picture come together. The picture shown is one of several Christmas Tree ornaments I've done.
The easiest way to do cross stitch is to purchase a kit which comes with everything you need - fabric, floss, a needle, and a pattern. You can buy all of these separate as well, or even create your own designs if you'd like.
You can find supplies to start from scratch, or kits at many online craft stores like Joann.com or The Stitchery You can visit their websites by clicking one of the logos below, and check out their current promotions and sale items:I'm clearing out some of my cross stitch kits on eBay

:This article is about the embroidery style called cross-stitch or counted cross-stitch. For specific crossed stitches used in needlework, see cross stitches.

Cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture. Cross-stitch is usually executed on easily countable evenweave fabric called aida cloth. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This form of cross-stitch is also called counted cross-stitch in order to distinguish it from other forms of cross-stitch. Sometimes cross-stitch is done on designs printed on the fabric (stamped cross-stitch); the stitcher simply stitches over the printed pattern.
My favorite kind of cross stitchery is teddy bear themed items.
But still, I just can't help myself. There is such an amazing variety of patterns and designs out there. Here are some examples from The Stitchery:

Don't Do Mornings

Baby Bear Birth Record

Hugs and Kisses Birth Record

The Best Gifts Tree Skirt

Naughty or Nice Stocking

Smoky Mountain Christmas

- Wow - you've got a lot of great stuff here. I used to cross stitch a lot, and got away from it...maybe this will be my motivation to get back to it.
