Why I Love Tyler Hansbrough

Let the hating games begin! And if you want... just Google "Tyler Hansbrough sucks" and count the numerous pages of results... I think it is 37 pages long for anyone who really cares about this sort of thing.

And yep... the hating is THAT BAD!

First of all, the Tar Heels Basketball team has left victims all over the train tracks for quite some time. It is just a winning basketball program that is headed by Coach Roy Williams... a pretty darn good coach and recruiter...

And every one of those basketball teams that lost to the Tar Heels... have 1000s of fans who literally despises the face of the NC Basketball team...

And who is that you ask? Why Tyler Hansbrough or course! He just makes the opposing teams' fans froth and rage at him... he leaves his big footprints all over his opponents.

Could it because... Tyler's nickname is "Psycho T?" Well, sometimes he does look nuts... His mother would be the only one that loves his face when Tyler is so intense...

As someone once said, he is a "god" if you bleed Carolina blue and the "devil" if you bleed any other color.

My personal favorite excuse why so many folks hate Tyler is because he is successful... unfortunately, the more successful you become... the more enemies you pick up... whether you deserved it or not.

Pay attention here... whether you deserve it or not. Tyler isn't an axe murderer. He didn't swindle billions of dollars... he just played good basketball for a very good college basketball team.

Another huge criticism of Tyler Hansbrough is that he is overrated... try telling him that until you are blue in the face... he is ACC All-time leading scorer. He just won the National Championship... I'm assuming he earned his 4 year college degree.

How can anyone be possibly upset with that?

But I'll cover his future NBA potential later...

For now... my believe is that Tyler Hansbrough is just a lightning rod of dissent because he is a super successful man with the whole future ahead of him... and lots of people are just jealous... including many other college basketball players who will never make it to the NBA.

Of course that brings up another point... I recently read an interesting article from one of the greatest marketers ever, Dan Kennedy... Now this guy isn't P.C. Oh heck no... he gives it out with both barrels...

And Dan went on about the "Dr. Phil Syndrome." Which I thought was very appropriate in this lens.

You see, the Dr. Phil Syndrome goes like this... there are literally hundreds and thousand of counselors and psychologists who are so upset with the success of Dr. Phil. And why? Well, Dr. Phil is no more than a "hack" that got discovered by Oprah...

And that displeases these "learned" and "distinguished" psychologists to no end... They all think that Dr. Phil's success should be theirs...

So they all complain and let everyone know about what they think of Dr. Phil. How unprofessional he is... how much better they are... and they cannot believe that they are NOT getting the accolades and moola that Dr. Phil is getting.

Are you with me here? Do you see where I'm going? Tyler Hansbrough is considered an overachiever... overrated... a has been that doesn't deserve his success...

But what if I told you his success comes from hard work... constant practice and willingness to ignore his detractors?

Shouldn't Tyler deserve his success because he "earned it" rather than inherit the god-given ability to jump through the hoops?

Right now... many mock NBA drafts have Tyler Hansbrough being drafted hear the end of the 1st round.

But we will see... My hopes is a smart General Manager will see Tyler as a plus for a winning team that can use some help for the long playoffs...

Thursday, June 25th 2009 - Tyler was picked in the 1st round by Indiana Pacers! Some folks are going to say that the 13th pick was a little early for him... because as we all know... Tyler is over rated (that was sarcasm in case you didn't catch it).

I'm not too sure what Larry Bird is trying to do here but Tyler Hansbrough should fit right in with Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Jeff Foster, and Travis Diener.

Granted Indiana Pacers were a little interesting last year... let's see if Tyler can take them up another level...
