If you need help falling asleep, you're not alone. Many of us (including me) have trouble going to sleep at night. With the help on this page, it is my hope that we can get the rest we all need.
Ways to Get To Sleep
This is what you're looking for!
So your lying there trying to go to sleep, and all you can do is look at the clock, and think about how tired you're going to be tomorrow. You keep thinking to yourself "if I don't get to sleep soon, I'm going to be too tired tomorrow!". You look at the clock again. You can't believe how its been 1...2...3....or even 4 hours since you lay down, but you still can't fall asleep! Your mind might be racing, or you might just not feel tired period. Its strange how that works. I have days where I feel like as soon as my head hits the pillow I'll be out cold because I'm so exhausted. The thing is, as soon as I put my head down I don't feel tired anymore! It can be so frustrating! Then those thoughts start creeping into your mind: "I need to get to sleep. I need to get to sleep! I NEED TO GET TO SLEEP!!" The more you think about it, the less likely it feels you will go to sleep. So now its time to give you some help falling asleep. I'm not going to make any bold promises about the techniques I'm going to share. I'm not going to bore you with all the obvious stuff either. We all know we need a quiet room, a dark room, a comfortable bed, not to have eaten within an hour or 2, etc. This is just some basic stuff that can work well if you give it a chance. If your done with little tips that don't ever help, and you want to solve your sleep problems for good try This!
Get To Sleep Now!
Help Falling Asleep Right Now
If you've been in bed for maybe a half hour, but you already know your not going to have an easy time falling asleep, try meditation. Ok, you probably want to stop reading right now. I don't blame you, but if you continue I'll tell you what I mean and it may help a lot. I don't meditate, but there is a very basic activity in meditation that helps me get to sleep almost nightly. All it is is breathing, but its not the actual act of breathing that is helpful, it is the concentration you put on it. Heres what I mean: You're laying there in bed, and you're at the point where your mind is racing, and you are thinking about the sleep your missing out on. At this point in time its a mental thing causing your problem. Your mind won't rest. So here's the deal. You must concentrate on your breathing. You should think only about the air going into and coming out of your nose, or mouth. You should concentrate on that. Concentrate on the detail of the sensation, and try to make each breath identical in a methodical speed. Now, like I said before, its not about the actual breathing, its about getting your brain focused on one simple thing. It might seem very difficult at first, but you must stick with it. Your mind WILL wonder to other things, and thats ok, but the important thing is that you bring it back to your breathing as soon as you realize you've lost focus. At first this may seem counter productive, because it is difficult, but as the minutes pass you will find it is very soothing to only think about your breathing and not the frustration of trying to sleep. Give it a shot. It really can work if you stick to it.

I would recommend listening to music. This won't work for everyone, but it can help alot. It works in a similar way to the breathing above. It is a good way of getting your mind to concentrate on one thing. The style of music is of a personal choice, but obviously something more laid back is probably in order when your trying to sleep.
