My Story...

by Megan

I got pregnant when I was only 15... I was terrified to tell my mom, but then the day came when I couldn't zip up my pants any more and she found out.

Instead of going to school, she drove me to the doctor, with tears in our eyes. Turns out, I was already 5 months pregnant; guess that made sense, the baby was already kicking me all the time.

The thought of being a mother was a far-away idea. As my belly got bigger and my due date came closer, reality started to sink in.

I didn't have baby things or the money to buy them. I didn't have a job, heck I hadn't even finished high school. I think that is when I really started to consider my choices...

So, I was thinking about adoption..

Let's be honest, women don't plan on choosing adoption for their children. You aren't right here, right now because you want to be a "birth mother." You need help and want information. You need to learn more about the choices you have with adoption.

An unplanned pregnancy is not the end. In fact, it can be the beginning of a beautiful life for both you and your baby. And, believe it or not, adoption can help you both with solid futures full of opportunity and hope.

Learning About Adoption...

Your head may be spinning from your family and friends telling you what they think you should do. Parents tell you one thing. Friends tell you something else.

Adoption is a choice. It is like any other choice. It isn't the right choice for every woman but it may be right for you and your baby.

Whatever your reason for considering adoption today, you are not alone. And the good news is that women choosing adoption can play an active role in just about every step of the process. You can choose the parents for your child, receive counseling, create your own adoption plan, and meet the adoptive parents.

You can even receive help with pregnancy, living and medical costs if your state allows it.

You can learn about adoption in a safe environment. Even from the comfort of your home! You can make a free phone call to the National Adoption Hotline at 1-800-923-6602 or keep doing research online.
