A bit of understatement like Mobile Me hasn't make everyone happy. Generally we don't get e-mails from satisfied costumers but we do receive a lot e-mails from unsatisfied costumers and these costumers are usually the users of Apple's ?cloud computing? solution. Its nice to hears positive take now after the barrage of negativity. Rob had just the thing?
Rob's iPhone was stolen one day when he was at dry cleaner. He thought that he had lost the phone for forever and he got ready to buy a brand new one at that same evening. Next day the very unfamiliar contacts appeared on new phone. Via magic of Mobile Me, the thief was unwillingly supplying him names and phones numbers of his or her closest friends as MobileME was synchronizing the stolen phone to the cloud and eventually to his new phone. Ro wrote that ?It didn't take a long time for me to realize that MobileMe was leading me right to the thief?.
For little social engineering, MobileMe had provided the ground work. Thanking the fact that he caught on before he'd time remotely disconnect his account. Rob took a right step of wrangling a name and phone number from the provided contacts and supplied police with everything they needed to get rob his phone back. He had his original iPhone back in his possession by the end of the night.
This is one of the success story of Mobileme. Its clear that it doesn't make up for the problems which have plagued Mobile Me, but it can be said a great story. According to Rob the recovered phone is ?pretty much brand new? and is currently up for auction on ebay.
