I don't have a cell phone. Is something wrong with me?

Earlier today I was filling in a form on a site and it required that I include my cell phone number. Well since I didn't have a cell phone I skipped over it and filled out the rest of the form. When I submitted the form it said you must fill in all boxes. Well, duh! I don't have a cellphone. So rather than make up a number, I chose to not give that company my business.

This brings me to my point. Is something wrong with me since I choose to not have a cellphone?

I don't have anything against cellphones....

I just havent found a need for one.....yet.

You see I have a computer and a "real" phone at home. I only live 2 minutes from work and the store is just up the road. It never occurred to me that I may need a cell phone and I'm actually quite happy without one. I think I would hate being interrupted while driving or shopping.

It is kind of humerus to look at the facial expressions of people when I tell them I don't have a cell phone. But maybe I'm just weird. I never really had a desire to get one.

Okay, I admit it. I totally feel pressured to get a cell phone. Maybe I'm just being stubborn and I'm sure eventually I'll give in a get one, but for now I'm good without one.

Maybe you can convince me. I would love the feedback.

Yay! one more human being who doesn't have a mobile phone attached to them by an umbilical cord! I also get annoyed when Google for instance insists on confirming you ONLY by demanding a mobile phone number - IDIOTS! They have lost all my business over the years.
It was with much joy and celebration that I disconnected my last mobile phone when I retired to work from home - no more being hounded wherever I went 24/7 - and I even screen my home calls so that I don't get annoying telemarketers!

I haven't been using a phone for more than 2 years. I hardly use it when I had it either. To me, a phone just doesn't have much of a use. It's not like I am a owner of a multi-million business or a surgeon who needs to be contactable at all times. Also, there's the fact that it costs me money every month even though I hardly use it. Some people would probably tell me to use a pre-paid card, but frankly, I think that would be a waste too.

When I moved abroad, I needed the internet in my house, so decided to get a smartphone instead of a landline/broadband. This was my first cell phone. The only downside to not having a cell phone is its effect on social life. Most of my friends nowadays refuse to arrange a definite meeting place/time and always say 'text me when you are in town and we'll meet up'. Very annoying if you don't have a cell phone. I now send about 10 texts a month and make about 3 calls a month. Good job I'm on PAYG!

6 months ago I smashed my cell phone. Haven't needed one since. Hardly every used it when it did work. I had intermittent service anyway--often getting a missed call message hours or days later. My wife wants me to renew my service so maybe I'll get one again--and get more missed call messages 2 days later....

Up until 2 years ago I didn't have a cell phone or want one. The one I carry now is actually not mine, but my families so they can stay in touch. What ever happened to the days when I'll see you when I get home after work days? What makes us so important that we need to be at someones beckoned call? I don't know, but it seems I've given into it. Oh well.
