Introducing Ian Paice!
This lens is dedicated to one of the worlds greatest drummers, Ian Paice of Deep Purple fame.
This is an ongoing project so call back often for updates.
Ian Paice - The Early Years
Name: Ian Anderson Paice
Born: 29th June 1948 in Nottingham, England
Originally learnt violin.
Took up the drums at age 15.
First job was with his fathers dance band.
Early influences included Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Bobby Elliot (The Hollies), Ringo Starr, Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge), and Charles Connors (Little Richard Band).
His first rock and roll band was Georgie And The Rave Ons which changed its' name to The Shindigs in mid 1965. Not long after this Ian was offered the job in MI5 who went professional in 1966.
Whilst travelling to italy with MI5 in 1967, Ian met guitarist Ritchie Blackmore forming a connection that saw him offered the job of Deep Purple in 1968.
