Ibanez guitars

popular guitar choice

Ibanez - A 19th century Japanese bookstore owned by the Hoshino family of Nagoya, Japan became the company that has made instruments for George Benson, Korn, Daron Malakian of System of a Down, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, and many other well known artists.

Ibanez can trace their lineage back to late 19th and early 20th century Spanish luthier Salvador Ibanez. His guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and other stringed instruments, are still prized for their workmanship.

After the Ibanez workshop was destroyed during the Spanish Civil War in 1936, their Japanese distributor, Hoshino Gakki, purchased the highly esteemed trademark and began making acoustic and electric guitars in Japan.

Because they offer an attractive mix of low price and high quality, players who demand a lot of value for their money choose Ibanez.

In the mid-1970s Ibanez guitars gained popularity due to their good construction and the decreased quality of some famous U.S. brands. Initially Ibanez was best known for resembling other famous iconic guitars. Since then, Ibanez has been releasing their own designs such as the Iceman and Roadstar guitars. In the late 1980s and early 1990s Ibanez began a long-term relationship with guitarist Steve Vai, leading to the Ibanez JEM and Ibanez Universe electric guitar models. Ibanez' RG series are double-cutaway electric guitars that are made to rock. Ibanez released their first Artcore hollowbody guitars in 2002 in an appeal to entry-level guitarists. The Artcore line has since gone on to earn a reputation as one of the best value guitars available.

Ibanez offers acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars and basses for every taste. From the pro-level V-Series, to the stylish double-cutaway Talman, and the exotic wood EW models there's an Ibanez guitar or bass for you. If you're just getting started, an Ibanez Jam Pack with a guitar and accessories will get you off on the right foot.

Ibanez also offers a full line of amplifiers, including amp heads, speaker cabinets, combo amps and acoustic guitar amplifiers. Well-known Ibanez amps include the Tone Blaster, Thermion and Troubadour. Bassists are well served by Ibanez Sound Wave combo amps.

Ibanez also has a legendary series of guitar effects pedals. Ibanez released their first Tube Screamer effect pedal in the late 1970s. It featured an integrated circuit that made it one of the best solid-state pedals to simulate a tube guitar amp on overdrive. So popular are these pedals, that Ibanez has reissued the TS-9 and TS-808 Tube Screamers to the delight of vintage gear hounds who know a good deal when they see one. Fortunately for all of us, Ibanez has reissued some of the classic Tube Screamers, and has brought out some new pedals like the TS-808, TS9, and TS9DX. Other esteemed Ibanez guitar effects include the AD9 Analog Delay Pedal, the WD7 Weeping Demon Wah, the DE7 Delay/Echo, the SB7 Synthesizer Bass Pedal, the CS9 Stereo Chorus Pedal, the Tube King High Voltage Tube Distortion Pedal, and more.

Artists who have been associated with the Ibanez brand include Stanley Jordan, John Scofield, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Alan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, John Petrucci, George Benson and Pat Metheny.
