Cures For IBS
Diet for Irritable Bowel System
The primary goal when treating IBS is to prevent the over-reaction of the gastrocolic reflex and lessen pain, discomfort, and bowel dysfunction.
Generally, using soluble fiber foods and supplements, substituting milk products with soy or rice products, being careful with fresh fruits and vegetables that are high in insoluble fiber and eating frequent but small meals can all help to reduce the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Red meat, oily, fatty or fried products, milk products (even if you don't exhibit a lactose intolerance), chocolate bars, coffee (regular and decaffeinated), alcohol, carbonated beverages - especially those containing artificial sweeteners - should all be avoided.
Medication
Doctors usually prescribe 'soft' drugs such as stool softeners and laxatives in constipation-predominant IBS, and antidiarrheals (for instance, opioid or opioid analogs such as Loperamide, Diphenoxylate or Codeine) in diarrhea-predominant IBS. Both of these options are used for patients with mild symptoms.
Other medications that may follow are antispasmodics such as Hyoscyamine or Dicyclomine to help patients with cramps or diarrhea.
However, these are not always effective - recent studies have shown that only 1 patient in 6 will actually benefit from them.
In addition, agonists may also be prescribed to help constipation predominate irritable syndrome.
There are many other drugs that can be prescribed to deal with the issue that include anti-depressants, Rifaximin, Iberogast, or enteric coated peppermint oil capsules.

Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome
For at least a few days, keep a journal of the foods you're eating. Notice if your IBS gets worse and cut out that food for a while - 4 days is a good length of time for this break as it gives your body time to recover.
Cut down on your caffeine intake. Don't go cold turkey immediately as caffeine has been known to give withdrawal symptoms. Instead, cut down on your caffeine intake gradually. Remember that tea has caffeine as well as coffee, cola and most energy drinks.
Cut out artificial sweeteners. They are bad news even if you don't have a problem like IBS. Switch to water instead. If you need to "liven up" the water, add a slice of lemon or lime to it.
Eat more soluble fiber. Especially if constipation is one of the symptoms you are experiencing. Fresh fruit (eat it whole - don't juice it), whole grain cereals, fresh vegetables will all help with this.
Take a daily pro-biotic either in tablet or drink form. Consider taking a vitamin tablet every day as well. It won't harm you and could correct any imbalance in the vitamins and other trace elements that we need on a regular basis.
Although not part of a diet, get hold of a hypnosis MP3 and use it on a regular basis to help relieve your symptoms.

How Do You Want To Cure Your IBS?
IBS Hypnotherapy
If you haven't tried it before, hypnosis is easy. You can either attend a session with a local hypnotist or you can do as more people are doing and download a hypnosis MP3 that you can listen to in the comfort of your own home, as often as you like.
Your hypnosis session will typically start by relaxing you and once you're in a hypnotic trance the real "work" of the hypnotist begins.
Your subconscious mind will be given a number of hypnotic suggestions to reduce the symptoms you're experiencing.
Over time, you should find that your IBS will be reduced or even eliminated completely.
This is one of the best IBS hypnotherapy MP3s that I've found.

IBS is one of our nation's most untalked-about ailments, but millions of people - mostly women - suffer from the debilitating condition, one that must be controlled primarily through diet. Contrary to what may sufferers believe, eating for IBS does not mean deprivation, never going to restaurants, boring food, or an unhealthily limited diet. It does mean cutting out such trigger foods as red meat, dairy, most fats, caffeine, alcohol, and insoluble fiber.

- Very helpful. I have suffered with IBS for several years. Diet is the key, but I am not always good about it. I use Loperamide when necessary. I do find if I each too large of a meal, I am in trouble. I have to watch the mix of certain foods as well. Thanks, five stars and lensroll.
