I Can Save Africa
I Can Save Africa is a non-profit organization aimed at improving and saving lives of those who need help in Africa. iCan is currently run by two students attending Arizona State University. The goal of this project is to make awareness to the ongoing struggles in Africa and to raise money in order to help. The main goal of I Can Save Africa is to raise money and awareness about the number of children who die a day around the world due to not having clean water. The main purpose of I Can Save Africa, with the money raised, is to help African communities, one by one, become a safer and more enjoyable place to live.
iCAN and the Beginning of a Global Cause
I Can Save Africa, or iCan, is a non-profit, charitable organization that is trying to outreach to improve and save the lives of people living in Africa. The whole idea came about 2 weeks ago, to a pair of students who are currently attending Arizona State University. After witnessing countless heroes on CNN's television program, the two students wanted to become heroes themselves.
The purpose of iCan is not to save Africa all at once, but to slowly improve the lives of the people in the poorest conditions. The goal is to find one specific problem in one community and find the most cost efficient and easiest way to solve that problem. If we can raise the money to help one community in Africa, even if it may be only 25 people, we have helped and then will be able to help another community of say 50 people. We want to be able to provide education, electricity, food, clean water; whatever it may be to help that community, we want to find a way to do it.
Our main inspiration has arose from Jessi, our founder, who decided that she wanted to save the world and improve the lives of everyone who needs help. Coupled with Ryan, their goal is to save Africa and to improve the lives of thousands living in poverty and despair there. Ryan's main inspiration came to him when found out that over 5000 children die each day due to unsanitary water.
The main goal is to help 1 African community at a time in order to achieve a better life. It will have to start from the ground up, starting with improving their water supply and quality, improving their health care, and improving their education system.

- Water is life - and this simple truth is never more true than in rural Africa. Here, AMREF works with communities to improve access to safe, reliable and sustainable water supply and sanitation facilities.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that in 2003, approximately 1.1 billion people had no access to safe water and 2.4 billion had no basic sanitation.
Lack of clean water and sanitation leads to a wide range of potential diseases. These include cholera, typhoid, malaria, yellow fever, filariasis, river blindness, sleeping sickness, guinea worm, bilharzia, trachoma, scabies and more.
Most importantly, dirty water is often the cause of ordinary childhood diarrhoea, a leading killer of African children.
